New Emilie De Ravin Interview – Speaks About Rob and Remember Me

With her new film, Emilie de Ravin has hit the jackpot. Not only does she get to cavort in steamy scenes with heartthrob du jour Robert Pattinson (OMG! RPattz!) in Remember Me, but she gets to bask in the heat of a talked-about movie that, without Pattinson’s involvement, may have been another under-the-radar romantic drama.

Pattinson’s first project since the unprecedented success of the Twilight films sees him as an angry rich kid – sans creepy vampire makeup – who falls in love with a ballsy young philosophy student, played by de Ravin. At 28 – five years Pattinson’s senior – she is still girlish enough to pass for 21.

You’ll most likely recognise the Australian actress de Ravin as the young mother Claire in Lost (currently in its explosive sixth series on Sky1), but her association with Pattinson has catapulted her into the celebrity weeklies.

When we meet in New York, where the film is set, a blizzard is raging outside the hotel window. Like Pattinson, she seems embarrassed about her success, shrugging off compliments and rolling her eyes at talk of fans and paparazzi. “I get recognised,” she says with a dismissive wave, “but I’m not the sort of person who frequents popular clubs. I try to keep out of that.”

De Ravin is part of a new breed of celebrity – like Pattinson and his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart – who shun the glamour and adulation that many see as a perk of the job. When de Ravin slouched onto the red carpet at the London premiere of Remember Me recently, grinning awkwardly in her black Oscar de la Renta mini-dress, she and Pattinson looked as though they would rather be anywhere else.

Despite their ‘I’m-so-normal’ façade, journalists are warned not to ask about their private lives on pain of death. A hovering publicist peers up from her BlackBerry at the mere hint of a personal question to de Ravin (it could be worse: no less than three handlers accompany Pattinson during his interview). But this much we know: she married the American actor Josh Janowicz in June 2006 after being together for four years. The couple separated last year, but are rumoured to have reunited.

“Love is such an objective thing,” she says, in a suitably vague answer to a necessarily vague question about love. “I mean, I can say I love my family, or I love my Diet Coke,” she continues, gesturing towards her Coke can. “So I guess, in different ways, yeah, I do believe in love.”

Read the rest after the jump!

But in terms of relationships?

“It’s different with every person. It depends if it… clicks. It’s chemistry.”

Either way, if she’s in love when we meet, there is no ring on her finger. Of course she was romantically linked to Pattinson during filming, but RPattz could star opposite Ellen DeGeneres and there would be rumours. Having said that, the young stars’ on-screen chemistry is undeniable. Viewers will be surprised to learn they met just one week before filming commenced.

“She’s really cool,” says Pattinson, pushing back his James Dean-esque mane, when we meet later that afternoon. “She was actually the last girl we saw and she was cast on the day of her audition, so we went straight out to a bar. It was so close to filming that we didn’t have time to rehearse. But she got it right from the beginning, so it was easy.”

De Ravin agrees that the best preparation was getting to know each other. “Our relationship in the film is intense,” she nods. “We spent a lot of time together, talking about our characters and their relationship, because it’s so important to be comfortable together. Then, when we were actually shooting, everything fell into place and felt natural. It didn’t ever feel like we were reading a scene or going through the motions.”

Watching Pattinson brooding or de Ravin screaming at her on-screen father (Chris Cooper), I have to ask: did they manage to have any fun on set?

“If you’re getting ready to do a really emotional scene then, right before it, you’re probably not going to be outside playing basketball,” she shrugs. “But everybody involved was passionate about it so there was a good vibe.”

Having not spent much time in New York before landing the role, de Ravin has now fallen in love with the city. “New York is a character in the film,” she smiles, either not noticing or not caring what a cliché that is. “It was great to be able to walk around the city on days off. And it’s so rare to be able to shoot in the real locations. When we have dinner, we were actually in The Oak Room and when we were doing a scene in the house Ally [her character] grew up in, that was in Queens.”

Of course, the downside of shooting around the city is that Twilight fans and paparazzi had easy access to locations.

“It was distracting at times,” admits de Ravin. “We shot 90 per cent on location in Manhattan or Queens so it was very accessible. It’s not like they can close down Central Park. So it was difficult for Rob and I to figure out the logistics of a rehearsal when you’ve got thousands of people watching. Even if you’re not looking at them, you’re aware of it. It can be hard to focus.”

So there you go: Emilie de Ravin is a study in laid-back cool. One of that frustrating breed of beautiful I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-and-this-is-how-I-look people. A lot like Robert Pattinson in fact. So, when she was filming scenes with RPattz, who spent the most time on their hair?

She explodes with laughter: “Oh come on! Totally Rob,” she grins, before shaking her head at the ridiculousness of the question and, more seriously, adding, “Neither one of us really did much. It was just like… ” she mimes messing up her hair with devil-may-care nonchalance.

Then she shrugs again.

Robert Pattinson – three features that makes him unique!

It would be funny if I start my article formally with an introduction of the hot superstar of today, Mr. Robert Pattinson. The 23 year old has himself let the world know about him so much that there remains no place and requirement for any further foreword.

But in spite of the superfast superstardom, RPattz prefers a humble and down to earth approach. He is ever so friendly with his fans and the reporters and hasn’t let showbiz glitters hypnotized him.

Now that is something unique for a star like him and that too with such a young age where people get easily carried away with popularity. But that is certainly not the thing we are referring to in our title.

Then is it RPattz’s passion for music that is highlighting him as unique? Well, we know Robert Pattinson is also quite into music. He plays guitar and piano and can sing as well. But that is not exactly we are looking for either!

We have categorised some unique qualities that have become the trademark of this hottie. These are something that reminds you of Rob as you read about it…

1. Smile – Robert Pattinson has a unique smirk that is both innocent as well as sexy at the same time. The heartwarming smile further enhances his killing looks adding the oomph factor to his personality.

2. Ruffled hairstyle – You like it, or you don’t…Rob is exclusive with his untidy and unkempt hairstyle that gives him the “just from bed” look. The messy hairstyle follows him everywhere he goes including events like red carpet etc. making him identifiable even from a distance!

3. Wit – Rob’s sense of humor is the third in our list that makes him distinctive. Though most of the times his witty one-liners are misunderstood and misinterpreted by the media, it surely sets Rob different from others.

Fans, especially girls, will come up with several other things to prove their favorite star as unique. And we are infact waiting for those comments…

Scans and Translations from Grazia and Cinema Mag

“Sometimes it feels like I am living in some kind of vacuum. I don’t know what’s going in with the real world.
I shoot all these movies, my life happens on movie sets & in hotels, with screaming girls infront of it. That’s not normal.
Things like that scare you and I am asking myself if this is healthy for my personal development. But I can fullfill myself as an actor and earn acceptation.”

“I believe in eternal love. I know it sounds corny but my parents are my role models. They’ve met with 17 and they’re still a happy couple.
I think that’s romantic.”

“I’m neither jolly or brooding. I’m a mix of both.”

“I try to ignore the paparazzi. I got provoked by one during filming, I almost attacked him. One of my security guards said: “Imagine you wanna try and beat a Paparazzi but you don’t hit him and 40 cameras are snapping that moment.” (laughs) That convinced me not to hit that Paparazzi”

“Apart from the Paparazzi I am able to stroll around in London. It’s easier & more relaxed than in New York. The Brits are shy, they let me be. I went to a DVD Store in London and there were Twilight & New Moon posters everywhere but no one approached me. It’s almost strange when no one recognizes me.”

“I’ve always been the little bland brother. But they’re taking me serious now. It feels good. I’d love to have a little sister, so I can be the big brother.”

“My family & friends are always there for me, no matter what’s going to happen. A real partnership can stand the pressure by the public.”

Robert Pattinson Feels “Lucky” Female Fans Like Him

Robert Pattinson says she feels lucky that female fans find him “really sexy.” The actor credits Twilight author Stephanie Meyer with changing women’s minds about him.

“I have been lucky, of course. Like, last year, if I went out, I’d have to fight to chat someone up,” he tells Britain’s Telegraph newspaper. “This year, I look exactly the same, which is really scruffy, and yet lots of people seem to have just changed their minds and decided I’m really sexy.”

“Basically, anyone who wants to be seen as attractive should just get Twilight author Stephenie Meyer to say, ‘This guy is attractive’. Then everybody believes it,” adds Pattinson, who is reportedly dating his New Moon costar Kristen Stewart.

Pattinson, 23, currently stars alongside Pierce Brosnan and Emilie de Ravin in Remember Me

Jackson Rathbone Tells MTV That the Most Gratifying Part of ‘Eclipse’ Was Uncovering Jasper’s ‘Pain’

In an awesome new interview with MTV, Eclipse Vampire Jackson Rathbone (aka Jasper Hale) spoke about his character, Jasper, in Eclipse. What his character is going through emotionally, and what we can expect action wise from Eclipse -

“There are some really cool action scenes,” Jackson told Hollywood Crush. “We worked with some amazing stunt men and women who were so incredible and just a lot of fun to work with and collaborate with. They taught me a lot. So I hope to see a lot more of the action [in the next 'Eclipse' trailer].”

Though we don’t learn much about Jackson’s Jasper Hale in “Twilight” and “New Moon,” his background is explored much more in “Eclipse.” “I’m excited for a step up with Jasper’s character,” Jackson said. “It’s been two, three years and now I get to kind of go outside and show a little bit more of what makes Jasper tick. We get to go into his back story — see where he came from, who he was before, what makes him who we see in the first film of ‘Twilight,’ what makes him seem like he’s always in pain, why he’s always in pain … because he is.”

So why, exactly, is he in so much agony? “He’s almost depressed,” Jackson said. “He wants to live a good life. He wants to be part of the Cullen family. He is the newest to this vegetarian vampire way of life, and he’s still trying to be part of that and address his inner demons and what he used to be. It was really fun to be able to express that.”

Jackson credits director David Slade, whom he called “amazing,” with helping to show how Jasper evolved into his present self. “I’ve always been a fan of his, especially his first film, ‘Hard Candy.’ I thought he did an incredible job with ‘30 Days of Night,’ so when I first got there, I talked his ear off about ‘30 Days of Night’ and how he got a couple of shots and all that.”

Some of Jackson’s favorite scenes to film were the ones that explore Jasper’s origins. “Whenever we got to go into Jasper’s back story,” he said, “I got to don the Civil War regalia and ride a horse. It had been years since I’d been on a horse, so it was fun. I used to ride when I was in Texas.”

According to some folks in the know (i.e. lucky people who have seen parts of the film), Jackson gives one of breakout performances in “Eclipse.” Jackson, however, brushed off the compliment, saying it was a little too soon to judge.

“I’d say wait for the film before you compliment me,” he chuckled.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s future depends on Summit Entertainment

The onscreen chemistry of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart has helped to push the Twilight franchise to great heights. The young actors won over a million hearts with their grace and charm. The success of the supernatural drama is solely driven by the two leading actors.

Besides Twilight the duo is trying to carve out their individual identity in Hollywood by starring in movies outside the Twilight banner. But in order to get lucrative offers the actors need to work on their acting skills. Twilight’s production house Summit Entertainment can help the two by hiring some renowned directors for the 2 part finale “Breaking Dawn” who can effectively exploit their acting skills.

The first installment was directed by a little known director Catherine Hardwicke. The next sequel “New Moon” was directed by a well known director Chris Weitz who made movies like “About a Boy” and “The Golden Compass”. New Moon opened with $26.3 million at the US box office breaking the record previously held by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which grossed $22.2 domestically.

But Chris Weitz didn’t return as a director for the third installment “Eclipse”, he chose to be in be in post-production. The job went to David Slade who is basically directs music videos.

NEW MOON Blu-ray: More Reviews

Below are a few The Twilight Saga: New Moon Blue-ray/DVD reviews.

“On the disc releases of NEW MOON, fans can check out a lengthy behind-the-scenes documentary that takes them all around the dreary landscapes, showing the making of the movie, the development of the characters’ wardrobe and other superficial insights into the TWILIGHT universe. This six-part making of does pay great service to the loyal fans of the books and their accompanying movie adaptations, providing exhaustive detail concerning the creation of the town of Forks, Washington and the care given to its most popular residents.” Fangoria

“Overall I would give this film a 3/10 which is extremely disappointing. Not much happens in the film and you get to the point where you wish Bella would just disappear because she is so boring, selfish and childish. The DVD offers some interest in the Extras, there are some deleted scenes, interviews with the main cast, Behind the scenes and a sneak peak at Twilight Eclipse which actually looks interesting.” Laraine Sztypuljak at HEYUGUYS.

“The notions of chastity that underpin the film mean that the whole thing bubbles along with enough tension to make you want to watch the next instalment. And perhaps it is this – the purity, the relative innocence of it all – that appeals to a generation sexualised beyond belief.” Bryony Gordon in The Telegraph.

“Because the Twilight books and movies are a full-fledged phenomenon, no review is going to prevent the home video releases from becoming bestsellers, but you shouldn’t feel bad if you don’t understand what the fuss is about. You’re not alone.” Forrest Hartman in the Reno Gazette Journal.
