'Twilight' fans issue early praise for Stephenie Meyer's 'Bree Tanner' novella

Now that the book's been out for more than just a few hours, plenty of Twilight fans have had the opportunity to give a first read to Stephenie Meyer's hot-off-the-press The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella.

While some sources (The Guardian and The Washington Post to be specific) might have found that the novella was not their cup of tea, it seems that at least some Twilight fans are finding a new affection for Bree.

One reader named Carlie says, "I love, love loved this book. I mean when I first heard [Stephenie Meyer] was going to write a book about Bree I was like 'Bree? Why? She was only a small character.' After reading it though I fell in love with Bree." Carlie, in reading the Bree Tanner novella, admits she found the character to be empathetic and just as vulnerable and innocent as promised. "I really wanted to give her a hug because she was so young and so innocent. I was close to tears. I think that when I read Eclipse again I'm going to see Bree in a different light."

Whether or not Carlie expected the book to be this encapsulating from the get-go, she's certainly sold on it now. "Stephenie Meyer has come through on top again and wrote yet another fantastic book. She managed to bring everything full circle and explained all of those unanswered questions we all had."

A reader named Rebecca, too, had kind things to say of this work.

"I have to say it was amazing," she says. "It's good to see a different perspective of the events of Eclipse, and it was very well written. I also like how the new characters are written into the novella and how they seem to rank in importance."
