The 26-year-old actress plays Jessica Stanley, the good friend of Bella (Kristen Stewart) in the original (2008), “New Moon” (2009), “Eclipse” (2010) and the latest box-office smash, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1.”
She will recreate the character for the last time with the final installment “Breaking Dawn, Part 2,” which opens Nov. 16, 2012.
Kendrick believes she understands the incredible popularity of the films, inspired by Stephenie Meyer’s book series about a handsome young vampire, Edward (Robert Pattinson), a teen werewolf, Jacob (Taylor Lautner), and the pretty teen (Kristen Stewart) attracted to both of them.
“On a fundamental level, it’s a romantic thing,” the actress, whose impressive credits include “Up in the Air,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “50/50,” says during a Philadelphia visit. “Teenage girls really like it, and that bonds people. It’s like (Joel and Ethan Coen’s cult favorite) ‘The Big Lebowski’ (which stars Jeff Bridges as a likable stoner and has a huge convention each year to celebrate the film and its characters).
“At festivals, fans bond together. These girls (strong fans) take ‘Twilight’ to the next level.”
