Celeb Trainer Harley Pasternak talks about Getting Rob in shape for 'Water for Elephants'

How he got Robert Pattinson to be even more swoon-worthy:
"We work with him whenever he has a film to get ready for, which is quite often. Right now for the movie he's doing, 'Water for Elephants,' we're working with him on that. He's a great client, works hard. Again, not someone who naturally is someone who grew up working out and going to the gym, but it's part of his job and part of looking good and feeling good."

Why his diet appeals to the celeb clientele:
"It requires the least amount of time for the most amount of results, and the clients that we have, that's what they're looking for. They need to see results, and they don't have a lot of time to see those results. It also has to be sustainable."

Harley's 5-Factor Diet has been a celebrity favorite for quite some time, and his client list includes Miley Cyrus, Robert Pattinson, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Seth Rogen, and the Jennifer Hudson.

Aidan Quinn's advice for Rob About Fame

'80s heartthrob Aidan Quinn hit the big time by starring with Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan. He has kept up a steady acting career while maintaining his 22-years-plus marriage to Elizabeth Bracco, who is the mother of his two children.

He offers a few words to Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson, 24.

“Try and pick good projects,” the actor, 51, tells me. “Do what you want to do that challenges you as an actor. Be smart, have fun and start to produce your own material because the big fame rarely lasts. There will come a day when the phone doesn’t ring as much as it used to.”

Jimmy Fallon Talks About Working With Rob on ‘Robert is Bothered’

PopSugar: Can we expect to see Robert is Bothered at the Emmys?

Jimmy Fallon: Of all the bits on our show that we can do, we gave [the Academy] 10 different versions of all sorts of things we could do, to which they said these are all great, but we have to give out awards. So we have to cut it down to three bits. And Robert is Bothered was not in there. I pitched Robert is Bothered for Teen Choice Awards.

PS: How was Robert Pattinson to work with on Robert is Bothered?

JF: He was a great sport. He climbed up in the tree and did it with us. I’ve never heard louder screams in my life. The screams didn’t compare to anyone, even when Justin Bieber has been on. He was describing his movie Remember Me and people would just not stop screaming. And I was just thinking this is so cool. What an experience. I really hope he’s enjoying this ride. He’s a great guy and he deserves it. He was really shy and really happy — exactly the same backstage as he is on the interview. He’s a charming guy, but just really shy and I just hope he’s enjoying the moment. It must be super exciting to be him.

Stephenie Meyer talks ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ romance

One of the most fun things about The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was that almost-but-not-quite culmination of Bella and Edward’s relationship, and for a lot of fans the “leg hitch” sequence was one of the most important moments in the book-to-film transition.

Still, in keeping with Edwards “old school” nature, things did not progress beyond second base (arguably), and when at the fansite junket for Eclipse, Stephenie Meyer explained why that was (in the book, and subsequently in the film).

“Edward was born in 1901. And in his mind — he understands the world more clearly than we do. He hears everybody’s thoughts. But to him, this is kind of a…for him it’s a very disrespectful… And he can’t get away from the taboos of his youth. It would be wrong to take advantage of her, in his mind. And obviously, she has a completely different viewpoint. Her viewpoint of it is very modern. She knows that she is with him forever, and she doesn’t see his point. But he just comes from a different place. And I really like, every place I could put in, that would really date him. Because I like when he is…..109,” she explained.

She went on to tell the sites that there was also a little bit of stalling involved in Edward’s manuever, and she also talked about her perspective on the messages that some fans have gotten from the series.

E! Online: Zac Efron vs. Robert Pattinson: Who’ll Be the Leading Leading Man?

In one corner: Zac Efron. In another corner: Robert Pattinson. The thing that’s got them both cornered: Their respective teen-idol status.

Pattinson tried to knock his way out with Remember Me. Efron gives it his shot this weekend with Charlie St. Cloud.

Who’ll break out first? Let’s take some guesses (in diplomatic alphabetical order):

Efron Wins! “If he plays his cards right, he could easily be the next Leonardo DiCaprio,” says tween-marketing specialist Ashley Dos Santos.

In addition to possessing the ability to inspire killer soundbites (like the one above), Efron can memorably model swim trunks, honorably acquit himself in an art-house movie (Me and Orson Welles), and credibly, and non-sleezily, talk strip clubs with Jimmy Kimmel. In other words, the 22-year-old is a credit to his own peer group.

“When you look at him in interviews, he has a certain approachability,” Dos Santos says. “I think if he can prove his acting chops, Efron will definitely gain acceptance among twentysomethings.”

One advantage he’s got over Pattinson? The High School Musical grad has moved off the covers of the OMG!-ing Bops of the world, per Dos Santos, while Pattinson remains in their grip, thanks to the not-yet-done Twilight franchise.

Pattinson Wins! OK, so maybe some of Team Edward’s audience is still on the young side. But at least it was never on the Wildcat-crazed tween side.

“Zac has the same ‘problem’ as Miley Cyrus in aging up the audience,” youth-marketing consultant Allison Ellis said in an email. “[Pattinson] never had this issue because audiences never met him until Twilight.”

And while Remember Me didn’t break any box-office (or critical) records, Pattinson’s world-famous mug helped the romantic weepie ultimately gross more than triple its budget. (In a crowded weekend at the multiplex, the jury’s out on whether Charlie St. Cloud will top Remember Me‘s own modest domestic opening weekend.) In any case, Pattinson is money—or at least money enough to land Reese Witherspoon for his new leading lady.

Also, his new haircut (for the Witherspoon movie, Water for Elephants)? Not a bad answer to Efron’s torso.

We Have No Idea Who Wins! Like we’re psychic. We could’ve sworn Josh Hartnett was going to be the next Ben Affleck, who was supposed to be the taller Matt Damon.

New York Magazine Dubs Rob as Zac Efron’s Biggest Rival

PEERS: His biggest rival is Twilight’s Robert Pattinson — another good-looking young actor with a slobbering fan base. However, Pattinson is considered more valuable right now, even if his non-Twilight romantic drama, Remember Me, tanked: At least he has a current franchise. Efron is considered about equal with Taylor Lautner; even though Lautner’s muscles have him tapped for the action movies that Efron isn’t considered for, Lautner’s physique is topped with an equally smooth-cheeked face. To some extent, Channing Tatum (who is a few years older) has succeeded in breaking out of his pretty-boy image, giving him an edge, even though financially his films have ranged from the successful (Dear John) to the disastrous (Fighting). Efron is considered on par with Josh Duhamel and Chris Pine, while slightly more valuable than Tom Hardy.

BritFilms Reviews “Remember Me” DVD

Remember Me – DVD

Directed by: Allen Coulter
Starring: Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Martha Plimpton, Lena Olin, Peyton List, Ruby Jerins, Meghan Markle
Certificate: 12
Running time: 100mins
Release date: 26/07/10

Robert Pattinson can act. This is coming from a person who doesn’t necessarily detest the ‘Twilight’ franchise but simply thinks that the world wouldn’t be at a massive loss if it was without it, because to be honest it’d give the heartthrob at the centre of it more of a chance to stretch his skill in films like this.

A tale of love and loss (and no bloody vampiresfor a change!), the great and all powerful Pattinson plays rebellious son and tortured soul, Tyler Hawkins. Distant from his father (Pierce Brosnan), mourning a brother and caring for a sister, the lad is an emotional wreck who is eventually tamed by kindred spirit and just as screwed up Ally (Emilie De Ravin) who has Daddy issues of her own in the form of (Chris Cooper). Both with fathers they can’t connect with and missing a family member they can’t bring back the two lend a helping hand in each other’s lives before hitting the predictable rocky patch and recovering from it.

‘Remember Me’ is refreshing for a number of reasons. Firstly it gives the aforementioned lad from those ‘Twilight’ films a chance to prove he can do more than just look cold, grey and constipated opposite Kristen Stewart. With ‘Remember Me’ he’s a troubled youth on the road to ruin, stretching past the tree climbing, vampire pouting he’s now attached to, here we have him butting heads with Brosnan’s well delivered father figure, cracking jokes with his best mate and gelling perfectly with a love interest that unlike Bella the Bore actually reacts.

This is as much Ravin’s film as it is Pattinson and she shines just as brightly. Ally is as wild and fiery as her new beau carrying half the weight of the film that has a gut punch of an ending on its back, that only after viewing a second time echoes through the story and the characters involved, making it feel more than a cheap shock that some might see it as.

‘Remember Me’ is a film that is all about acceptance and moving on orchestrated by two strong leads at its centre. My only hope is that one of them manages to shake off the franchise they’re so cemented in once it’s all done and continue to surprise us like he has with this.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Screenwriter Needs Your Advice!

Have a thought or two about how Breaking Dawn, the final installment of the Twilight Saga, should play out on the big screen? Of course you do; what loyal Twi-hard doesn’t?

Well, good news—Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg wants to hear about it!

The scribe recently admitted to MTV that she’s struggling with the script for the two-part Twilight finale, which begins filming in the fall. Apparently, Rosenberg feels the script is in danger of becoming cluttered, due to the number of new characters she needs to introduce:

“It’s extremely challenging to introduce those new characters because you already have quite a slew of characters to service. The Cullen family is large, the wolf family is large, you have three leads … finding room for all of them is a challenge. For me, it is about pulling forward the ones that are essential and really making sure they have a presence.”

While Rosenberg hopes that all of the characters “will be there in one shape or another,” she’s throwing the floor—or at least her Facebook page—open to suggestions. And the screenwriter notes that she definitely takes fan input seriously:

“I ask people to really weigh in with what are their favorite scenes in the books, what’s important to them. And there generally seems to be a consensus about one scene or another. It’s really helpful for me and I’ll interact with them sometimes.”

Robert Pattinson Excited for Breaking Dawn’s ‘Pillow-Biting’ Sex Scene

In Eclipse Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson‘s characters end up engaged – so what happens when they become man and wife?

Spoiler alert! Keep reading if you want to know what happens…

“It does actually literally get more physical [in Breaking Dawn],” Stewart tells Access Hollywood, referring to the couple’s sex scenes. “It doesn’t get more action-packed … [But] they definitely get more physical. Well, they get married.”

The film’s screenwriter has said she plans to show Stewart’s character, Bella, giving birth, so how steamy will the pre-baby scenes get?

“Well, they’re man and wife now,” Stewart says leadingly. “They have a kid and stuff too, so, I guess to get there that happens.”

She adds with mock excitement, “We totally have sex – finally!”

For his part, Pattinson jokes that one moment of the Edward and Bella romantic scenes in the book stuck out to him.

“I’m looking forward to the pillow-biting scene,” he says with a laugh. “I thought that was so funny. Of all the random things too do, really? He bites the pillow.”

Plus, now that he’ll be showing more skin, “I can’t wait to get all my body makeup on,” Pattinson says, “to be especially pasty looking.”

‘Twilight’ Officially Passes the Two Million Dollar Mark in the UK

ome exciting news from across the pond today. Twilight has officially passed the two million dollar mark in the UK, being only the 13th book in history to do so.

Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight, the first instalment in the US novelist’s hugely popular dark romance series of the same name, has become only the 13th novel to sell more than two million copies in the UK since the turn century.

Stephenie Meyer follows in the footsteps of J K Rowling, Dan Brown and Mark Haddon – the only other authors to have achieved the two-million-in-the-21st-century feat.

Last week, the book sold 16,672 copies in the UK, taking its total sales to date to 2,005,609. Just over £9.7m has been spent on the book since it was first published in the UK in 2006 – a year in which it sold just 1,684 copies, according to Nielsen BookScan data.

It wasn’t until the Summer of 2008 and the release of the fourth book in the series, Breaking Dawn, that Meyer became a household name in the UK. In 2007, sales of Twilight totalled 27,000 copies, but the following year were a massive 355,000 thanks in part to its silver-screen adaptation hitting UK cinemas in December. Sales last year totalled 1,267,000 copies while the book has sold 355,000 copies thus far in 2010.

Including The Host, and other Twilight titles such as boxed sets, the Twilight Graphic Novel and The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, £47.7m has been spent on Stephenie Meyer’s books since the beginning of 2006. Last year, one in every 47 books bought in the UK was penned by the US novelist, while almost 20 pence in every pound spent on a children’s fiction title went towards one of her Twilight novels.

Eclipse Director Throws Some Love to ‘Scott Pilgrim’

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade is currently raving on Twitter about a movie that stars a bunch of young adults falling in love with each other and occasionally participating in big battle scenes. No, he’s not complimenting his own movie — he’s talking about Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, the upcoming action comedy with Michael Cera. Here’s a sample:

From henceforth I add THE MIGHTY, to the title Scot Pilgrim vs The World. THE MIGHTY SCOTT PILGRIM vs THE WORLD!

THE MIGHTY SCOTT PILGRIM vs THE WORLD is the best film I’ve seen all year and has fixed a permagrin to my face.

THE MIGHTY SCOTT PILGRIM vs THE WORLD makes me want to shake [director] Edgar Wright’s hand until his arm comes off.

Are you planning on taking Slade’s recommendation when the movie opens August 13th?

Mike Welch to Appear on Criminal Minds

Joe Mantegna let the cat out of the bag yesterday via Twitter that Mike Welch would be appearing on an episode of Criminal Minds where Joe Mantegna is a series regular. Joe and Mike previously worked together on the short-lived but critically acclaimed Joan of Arcadia.

Larry 411 has more details including the air date.

“Welch came to prominence as uber-nerd Luke Girardi on two seasons of Joan of Arcadia, in which he co-starred with the masterful Joe Mantegna in 45 episodes from 2003-2005.

Now he reunites with Mantegna (Special Agent David Rossi) on a new episode of Criminal Minds. The show, titled JJ, will air on September 29th on the CBS network. Joan of Arcadia alum Chris Marquette, who’s worked with Welch several times since then (Choose Connor, Remember the Daze), will also be appearing on the episode.

The series has been in the Nielsen Top 20 for the past two seasons and is on the DVR Top 10. Criminal Minds is produced by The Mark Gordon Company and CBS Television Studios.”

UGO: Sexy Vampire Chicks

UGO has a list of their 50 favorite vampire chicks and every Twilight actress has made the list.

Here’s their write-up of Ashley Greene:

“Alice Cullen

Actress: Ashley Greene

Undead In: The Twilight Saga

As long as you’re going to become an edgy vampire with the uncanny ability to sparkle in the sunlight, you might as well do it with style. Ashley Greene’s spunky coiffed Alice Cullen provides the useful (yet inexplicable) gift of foresight throughout the Twilight Saga, but unfortunately couldn’t tell that Bella was cliff-diving instead of jumping to her death.

Like anyone would be so torn up over Robert Pattinson. But he is dreamy.”

Robert Talks “Remember Me” with Glamour UK

Q: What made you say yes to Remember Me; you are in the position to say yes or no to a director to choose which movie you want to be in or which movie you don’t want to be in?

A: Kind of. You get certain offers and stuff, but with this, it was before Twilight came out, and I read the script and I wanted to do another job before Twilight came out. I didn’t end up doing one, but that was one of the things I read. So with this, usually every single young guy who is a lead is often such a stock character. But Tyler wasn’t really coming from an obvious place and wasn’t ending up in an obvious place either, so it gave you much more to work with, and it could be more of a character piece. There are certain things about generic films where you have to do certain things and perform in a certain way, and it doesn’t really make sense. I think that’s why this is kind of a little bit weird in that respect, it doesn’t really fit what you’d expect from this kind of drama.

Q: With Remember Me, were there certain aspects of the character you could empathize with? He’s a guy who likes to do his own thing…

A: Yeah, in a lot of ways, I saw right from the beginning that he was quite similar to me, and I kind of tried to tailor it to be even more similar, but then the more I tailored it, the more it became a fictional creation. But yeah, I’ve been saying there’s a kind of moment where, I think it’s the end of the adolescent period, where you think that you have to be an individual so much and you want to stamp your identity on everything. I mean, you get to your early 20s and you are much more accepting of being part of the world, and not wanting to drive everything away from you all the time, and I kind of had that when I was in my early 20s.

Q: Would you ever stand up for yourself to the point where you are going to fight with authority, like the character?

A: I know, that’s what one of the main things I liked about it; there are certain things which are like fantasy scenes of mine. It was quite satisfying, even the way he fights. It was all in the script, it said he fights like a pitbull, and I was just like, ‘Yeah, I want to fight like a pitbull!’

Q: Were you at all intimidated by Pierce Brosnan in real life?

A: I went to meet him for dinner just before we started shooting, and he’s a really nice guy. He’s kind of suave and he does look exactly the same all the time. He has great posture. He does this funny thing when we’re out at a restaurant and there are people looking over at him, and it’s a kind of posh French restaurant so there are a lot of older, banker type looking people and they obviously had no idea who I was, and they were obviously just looking at him and making a little joke or whatever, and he goes up to their table and introduces himself to everybody at that table, and you can see that they all really like him – I don’t know what he said. He was introducing me as his son to people. (laughter)

Q: Did this role feel very different from the other roles that you have played?

A: Yeah, definitely, there’s certain things about it; you can improvise quite a lot more, especially in comparison to the Twilight films. The whole point of the Twilight films is that there are so many hindrances as to what you can do, whereas with Tyler, it’s kind of, it’s the first time I played somebody who is just the kind of normal guy, without anything fancy, or without a period element, or without some kind of social inadequacy. He is literally just a normal guy, with no specific handicaps, and it was fun.

Q: How did you regard Tyler’s relationship with Caroline; they kind of need each other, don’t they?

A: Yeah, but it’s like, at the same time, she’s the kind of key or something. It’s not like they’re going to meet up and everything changes in their lives or whatever. It’s not saying people’s lives completely change, just having a couple of days of happiness, or a couple of minutes of happiness, can literally turn around your entire life, and you just have to be aware of it, you just have to make them sort of see things just a little bit more

Q: When will you shoot the last Twilight movie?

A: I think I’m going to have to do “Breaking Dawn” at the end of this year, so I’m not sure when.

Q: What’s your best disguise in order to be able to walk down Oxford Street?

A: Biting your nails works quite well! Actually, I was in HMV on Oxford Street on Christmas Eve buying Christmas presents, and not a single person noticed. And here were posters [Twilight and New Moon] everywhere! It’s been years since I’ve done anything like that, and I think people just aren’t looking in the same way in London

Q: How do you deal with fame?

A: I just try to keep working. Even ten years ago, Leonardo DiCaprio always talked about being able to take a break away from everything, but I don’t think you can do that anymore. I think you need to capitalize and steer your career at the same time, because I think that, especially with a thing like Twilight, where it is literally such a huge universe…

Q: Is it a burden to you, but it opens doors?

A: It opens doors and it closes others, like anything does. You can say, ‘Oh if I was still unknown, then no one would judge me’, but at the same time, nobody would give a shit either (laughter). It’s a weird little balance. And most of the time, you are just completely guessing what you should do, so I guess I’m just doing scripts that I think are good.

Q: Did the Twilight fans make shooting Remember Me in New York quite difficult?

A: The fan situation, completely, honestly, they were lovely. They would completely respond to people saying – “Please go and wait over there or something”, even when there were tons and tons of them, but it was like the paparazzi who were unbelievable. They were like jackals.

Q: You said that you never asked a girl on a date like Tyler does. Is that more difficult now you’re famous?

A: Yeah, I would imagine. I’m much more self conscious now because you can’t afford to like fail. You’re kind of afraid of succeeding too so you just kind of, you know, anyway you look at it…

Q: In what ways has this success changed things for you?

A: It changed more in America. I always thought it was going to be like this. I came out last Christmas and it was kind of… it was all pretty low key again and I always thought it would’ve changed by now in London but it hasn’t really. People just don’t look for the same stuff, but in America, I guess it is different.

Robert’s Interview With Top Music (Spain)

TRANSLATION

This 24 year old londonite barely needs introduction, because in three years he has become an international star thanks to his role as vampire Edward Cullen. We spoke to him before the premiere of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” about the film and much more. Ladies and gentlemen…Robert Pattinson!

Hello Robert! Edward is considered a romantic hero, but he also has flaws and is very possessive. What do you think? Has he changed?
Yes. His flaws in the first two movies and the story are caused by a type of disconnect from reality, and when he finally finds something to hold on to, this feeling of possessiveness emerges. As the saga evolves, he accepts he’s part of this contemporary world and these flaws begin to disappear. In ‘Eclipse’ he comes out of his shell more, so we hope that at the end of “Breaking Dawn” he’s this normal seventeen-year-old guy except a bit paler.

The concept of a soul is very important to Edward. Do you also believe we have a soul?
Do I believe in having a soul? Yes, definitely. I don’t remember exactly what Edward said but it was something like, “A soul and heaven must exist because people are not sufficiently rewarded on Earth.”

Would you compete with another guy for a woman like Jacob and Edward?
Are you asking me if I’d sleep with a woman and some other guy?

Only if you’d compete!
No. If you’re the one that is with the girl in the first place I guess you’d have to fight a bit, but I don’t think I’d ever be in Jacob’s place because then you’d only end up being the guy she breaks up with.

Have you ever gotten into a fight over a girl?
Yea, but it wasn’t because of love mostly pride.

How was it working side by side with Taylor Lautner? In ’Eclipse’ you have more scenes together.
It was great because I’d never done anything that wasn’t with Kristen. Besides, Taylor is very good. For Edward it’s hard to allow himself to feel emotions like jealousy of Jacob and not be able to control himself when he’s near. However, it’s easier to interpret.

Taylor has a great line when Jacob has to say he’s hotter than Edward. How was that scene?
It was fun. There are many good lines from Jacob in that scene. In a couple of sequences there’s scenes where I push him a little and I’m supposedly going to grab his shoulder, but when I do his shoulder is too big. Taylor kept having to dress with the warewolf’s uniform and try to be intimidating with those clothes and I kept slapping him in the head and stuff.

Are there any scenes with him that you especially enjoyed?
It was fantastic having him there in some scenes. I like the ones where Bella has to reveal something of herself in front of Edward and Jacob at the same time.

Has there been a time during shooting that you had to contain your laughter in fun scenes, like the tent scene?
I was really nervous in that scene and I don’t know why. I think it was because I was claustrophobic ‘cause we were shooting inside a tent. I would forget lines; I was super fidgety and wanted to hit someone. We did three takes and Kristen was supposed to be asleep on the floor and, since she saw what was happening to me, halfway through the scene she suddenly opened her eyes and stared at me trying to make me laugh in what was supposed to be one of the more serious scenes of the entire movie. I wanted to strangle her the first couple of seconds but afterwards I couldn’t stop laughing.

You have a lot of scenes with Bella. Do you and Kristen prepare beforehand or do you wait until you’re on set and start shooting?
I prepare because for some reason I don’t understand anything and try to delve into the deep side of a character. However, for Kristen it seems obvious. Her mind works in a completely different way than mine and she can immediately feel things. I’m more cerebral but in the opposite way as her. I don’t feel confident unless I understand the reason why I do things.

What would you tell someone that asked you for a reason to go watch ‘Eclipse’?
Why not? (laughs) With the first and second films I knew the exact what to tell people to encourage them to go to the theaters, but now it’s more difficult. I suppose if you’re a fan of the saga there are a lot of things that you’ll love. However, if you’re not or don’t know what it’s about, it’s the most accessible of the three. It’s a sold story by itself and has a lot more action.

Robert is currently filming ‘Water For Elephants.’ He will also begin filming ‘Unbound Captives’ with Rachel Weiz and Hugh Jackman soon and has the premiere of ‘Bel Ami’ pending. Of course, in October he will once again get in Edward’s skin for the filming of ‘Breaking Dawn.’

Edi Gathegi to Join X-Men

Earlier this month rumors swirled that Taylor would be joining the X-men franchise and that stars like Hugh Jackman were behind the idea. Those rumors later proved to be just that, rumor. However all is not lost for Twilight involvement in X-men. Edi Gathegi has landed himself a prime role.

According to Deadline Hollywood who got the scoop:

“Edi Gathegi, who played a chillingly evil vampire in Twilight and Twilight Saga: New Moon, is joining X-Men: First Class in the role of Darwin. That character, the first bi-racial mutant (in the comic series), has the power of “reactive evolution,” which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment. Plunged underwater, he’ll grow gills, he’ll gain night vision in pitch black and his skin grows fire retardant when burned.”

At the moment, Edi is over in the UK filming.

Twilight passes two million mark in the UK

Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight, the first instalment in the US novelist’s hugely popular dark romance series of the same name, has become only the 13th novel to sell more than two million copies in the UK since the turn century.

Stephenie Meyer follows in the footsteps of J K Rowling, Dan Brown and Mark Haddon – the only other authors to have achieved the two-million-in-the-21st-century feat.

Last week, the book sold 16,672 copies in the UK, taking its total sales to date to 2,005,609. Just over £9.7m has been spent on the book since it was first published in the UK in 2006 - a year in which it sold just 1,684 copies, according to Nielsen BookScan data.

Examiner: “Eclipse” hits Smithsonian in IMAX

The IMAX Experience of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse may be complete for most venues, but for the Smithsonian, it has only just begun.

Starting today (July 27th), Smithsonian IMAX is showing The Twilight Saga: Eclipse for a limited run until August 4th. More information is available here.

Eclipse’s opening in IMAX theaters brought in about $1 million in midnight screening numbers alone, according to The Numbers, and this was record-breaking from prior totals set by Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen ($900,000).

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse debuted in IMAX theaters on June 30th and ran until the middle of July.

The Smithsonian’s showings of Eclipse will all take place at the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater in Washington, D.C., and tickets for the showings run around $15.00 each. Only nine screenings are scheduled, and they’ll each take place at 7:30 p.m. EST, so if you want to see Eclipse in IMAX one last time and you happen to be in the D.C. area, here’s your chance!

‘Twilight’ inspires back-to-school looks

For some of us, back-to-school shopping is like one of those humiliating teenage rites of passage – less painful than tribal scarification, but more embarrassing than your dad’s first lecture on the topic of “the only thing teenage boys think about is …” It rears its ugly head every August, begging the question: Should I wear skinny jeans this year? And answering: Be honest. Don’t these remind you just a little bit too of Garth Brooks’ cozy crotch Wranglers?

A late-summer shopping excursion (which often happens in the company of a parent who will ask – loudly and in public – whether you still like jeans with “rock star” written down the leg in sequins) is often easier when you have a style guru, a chic sherpa to help you avoid rhinestones on your journey toward fashion enlightenment. Like Edward from “Twilight.” Or Rachel from “Glee.” Both characters have a style that is accessible, inexpensive and have the stamp of approval from a Hollywood costume designer.

Edward: Casual and timeless
We suppose when you’re a vampire and have to live through trends dating back to the 19th century (raw sewage in the streets, knickers), you’d eventually avoid wearing anything too trendy. Edward, the latest in a long line of hunky undead men, maintains perspective by keeping his color palette neutral (black, gray) and choosing jackets with a timeless design. For instance, a peacoat’s lapels never go out of style.

Jacob: Woodsy and weatherproof

Aside from spending hours and hours lifting weights, gulping protein shakes and running around in nearly nothing, the best way to steal the “Twilight” werewolf look is to be prepared for the outdoors. Black hooded sweatshirts, knitted sock caps, thermal T-shirts and boots are all wardrobe staples. Bonus: Thinking WWJD (What Would Jacob Do?) will help you avoid any inclinations to experiment with leather pants.

Finance Foodie Interviews Michael Welch

Michael Welch is going to be attending a fan cruise that leaves from Seattle and goes to Alaska. The Finance Foodie blog got to talk to Mike in advance of his departure:

“Q: Will you talk about filming Eclipse–was it tougher than filming the other two in some way?
MW: Yeah, filming Eclipse was definitely challenging. Each film definitely presents its own challenge. The main thing to really figure out is how to work with these same characters with different directors. That has really been an interesting challenge because these three directors, they are all brilliant but they are all very different in how they approach filmmaking and working with actors…so that has been kind of interesting. And it’s also been kind of interesting for me to deal with the character challenge of Mike Newton–because at this point, in Eclipse, he is not really going after Bella anymore. He has finally come to terms with the fact that he and Bella will probably never work out romantically and I think that anybody going after a girl who is being courted by both Taylor Lautner and Rob Pattinson would come to the same decision! It is no shame losing out to those guys!”

Pattinson “like big bro” to Ruby Jerins

Robert Pattinson was like a big brother to his Remember Me co-star Ruby Jerins, she has revealed.

The 11-year-old plays the Twilight star’s younger sister in the tear-jerker, and said their on-screen chemistry was just as real once the cameras were switched off.

“He’s really fun and very funny, he was like a bigger brother except he wasn’t mean – sometimes big brothers can be mean,” she said. “He is very supportive and respectable, and easy to act with. I really admired his work from the beginning, and he was really nice to everybody.”

The actress added: “It is extremely easy to bond with him. When we first met at the screen test, he suggested we should hang out a little and build chemistry but we never got to – it wasn’t really necessary because we did a lot of waiting around on set, so we got to know each other then and goofed around.”

Ruby – a Twilight fan – was amazed by the constant presence of fans and paparazzi around the Remember Me set in New York.

“It was crazy. From the time when we woke up, all these fans and paparazzi would already have surrounded the set. They were all over every scene. It was definitely a new experience for me,” she recalled.

Breaking Dawn’ Scribe Wants Birth Scene To Be ‘Visceral

‘I want to have the experience of the fear and feel [Bella's] pain,’ Melissa Rosenberg says at San Diego Comic-Con.

SAN DIEGO — For the first time since 2007, there was no official “Twilight” presence at the Comic-Con panels this year. But screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg was in attendance, and she was more than willing to take a break from the convention to chat with MTV News about her upcoming work on “Breaking Dawn.” The two films are set to start shooting back-to-back in November, and Rosenberg said she is still working on finalizing the script.

Fans have been most concerned with how Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) pivotal, not to mention traumatic, birthing scene will be portrayed in the movie, and Rosenberg said she and director Bill Condon are continually revising the script to make it work. Despite an earlier comment, she said the scene will be included, but the specifics of how it will be represented have not been solidified yet.

“I’ve written and continue to rewrite it, working on it with Bill Condon … He has a vision as well, but it’s kind of a shared vision I would say, but ultimately it comes down to, what does he actually want to see?” she said. “I know what I want to see, which is, I want to see the terror of the experience. I want to have the experience of the fear and feel her pain. I want to feel everyone’s pain in this.”

Still, Rosenberg said that there are some of the gruesome elements of the scene — like Edward (Robert Pattinson) having to give Bella what has been dubbed a “vampire caesarian” — that she doesn’t think need to be included in the scene. “I want it to be visceral, so that is what’s most important. Do I want to see teeth in placenta? No,” she said. “Someone else may. I don’t actually want to see that, but to each his own.”

Another of the other big scenes in “Breaking Dawn” that has been the subject of some controversy is the imprinting scene. It features Jacob (Taylor Lautner) having what Rosenberg describes as a “spiritual experience” with Bella’s newborn child that ultimately leads to the revelation that the infant is his soul mate.

“One must be very careful with that,” Rosenberg said about the scene, “but hopefully you’ve taken this ride with Jacob for all four movies; you know Jacob, and so I think you’ll experience it the way he does, which is spiritually, as a spiritual experience, as an emotional experience and not something that makes one uncomfortable.”

Cinematical: 10 Films That Weren’t At Comic Con

Cinematical covers, some of it tongue-in-cheek, 10 films that should have been at Comic Con. Breaking Dawn and the missing legions of Twilight fans make the cut.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: My apathy towards the giant robots extends similarly to the vamp/wolf/true love triangle of the Twilight series, but while I understand that the lengthy delay between the final two films means that the legions of K-Stew and R-Pattz won’t be back in full force until next year’s inevitable panel, it still started to resemble something like tradition to have the young girls camping out and the old boys complain about all the precious seats they’re talking up in Hall H that day.

(Regardless, I will take this opportunity to plug an astute piece over at Pajiba all about the Twilight fan-fic authors who held their ground at this year’s event, albeit off-site. And yes, I sometimes write for that site, but more importantly, I didn’t write this particular piece, and as a writer, I kinda wish that I had.)”

Nikki Reed Music Video to Debut Later Today

Nikki Reed has been a long time friend of the singer Sage. Nikki just directed the bands new music video. A rep for the band writes:

“Monday July 26th we will be premiering the highly anticipated “Edie Sedgwick” music video that was directed by Twilight’s Nikki Reed and stars Sage along with English folk rocker Johnny Flynn.

Sage will be doing a concert at Hotel Cafe in LA at 8pm with special guest musicians from the LA band Carney and following the show we will be showing the world premiere of the music video.”

In speaking about Sage’s music, Nikki Reed said:

“What speaks to me about Sage and her music is the undeniable power and creativity that in itself is enough to turn heads. Through its many transformations and rebirths, Sage’s music has never lacked originality and confidence, from her voice to her style. She is a woman with a vision, which is inspirational to all of us. I have lived and learned a lot with Sage, and I am absolutely thrilled to have had the opportunity to be a part of this experience, and share her music with the world.”

So I let them grab a hold of it and see what they can do with it. It helps our fan base and our publicity a lot. We actually went out a day before the Eclipse premiere and they were all camped out there, like crazy fans do and we came out and played a little acoustic show for them. Actual #s are in, Eclipse passes $606M worldwide, #8 domestic, #4 overseas

UPDATE MONDAY, JULY 26 4:00 PM:

ACTUALS ARE IN: The final domestic box office numbers for its fourth weekend show that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse finished eighth with $7,186,170 from 3,121 locations for a per theater average of $2,303. This represents a decrease of 46.5% from the previous weekend of July 16-18. The film’s domestic cumulative total is now $279,827,262 through its first 26 days of release. This is the official tally which, including the actual numbers for Friday-Sunday, has been revised slightly upward by $53,262 from the previously announced $279,674,000. It has now earned $326.4M overseas, giving Eclipse a current worldwide total of $606,227,262.

It falls from fourth to eighth place behind Inception, which drops 32% but stays on top in its second weekend with $42,725,012 at 3,792 locations for a per theater average of $11,267 and a domestic cumulative total of $142,883,424, Salt with $36,011,243 in its opening weekend at 3,612 locations, Despicable Me with $23,689,060, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with $9,651,495, Toy Story 3 with $8,917,512, Ramona and Beezus opening with $7,810,481, and Grown Ups with $7,428,742. Rounding out the top 10 behind Eclipse are The Last Airbender with $4,217,021 and Predators with $3,120,656. Indie drama The Kids Are All Right is in 11th place, increasing a whopping 143.8% after adding 163 locations for a total of 201. It took in $2,594,758 for a per theater average of $12,909, far surpassing any other film in the top 15. It’s earned $4.9M on a budget of $4M after three weeks.

The daily breakdown, with percent change from the previous day, includes Friday’s $2,352,457 for a per theater average of $754 (+24.6%), Saturday’s $2,760,065 for a per theater average of $884 (+17.3%), and Sunday’s $2,073,648 for a per theater average of $664 (-24.9%). Overall, the 3-day weekend of July 23-25 was down 46.5% from the 3-day weekend of July 16-18.

Here is the reason why this overall number is higher than the one reported by the industry on Sunday. After the Saturday box office totals came in on Sunday morning, the studio estimated what Sunday would be and came up with a weekend projection. That is standard industry procedure. Of course, Sunday figures could only be estimated at that point. The actual numbers weren’t known until now. The figures that come in after the weekend are usually not too far off from the estimates made over the weekend. They usually adjust slightly up or down but are rarely far off. In this case, the numbers were underestimated for all three days, meaning that the percentage increases from Thursday to Friday, Friday to Saturday, and Saturday to Sunday were all greater than anticipated. Overall the effect was positive by $53,262, so the final number is revised upward.

For those comparing the films in The Twilight Saga, it should be noted that Eclipse is staying ahead of New Moon in cumulative domestic totals over time. At this point in its release history (after 26 days) New Moon had taken in $268,761,019. Eclipse is now at $279,827,262. Both films hit the $250M mark on the 16th day.

Keeping track of records, the film with the least number of days to reach $250M was The Dark Knight, which hit $261,847,503 after eight days. New Moon is in 13th place, having taken 16 days to reach $251,530,186. Eclipse lands just behind it in 14th place, taking 16 days to reach $251,371,417. This puts the film ahead of Shrek the Third, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, and Iron Man 2, which all took 17 days to hit $250M.

So far, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has set all-time box office records for Opening Wednesdays, Single Day Wednesday Gross (non-adjusted), and Single Day Wednesday Gross (adjusted for inflation). It is in second place for Opening Day Gross, Single Day Gross, and Non-Opening Thursday Gross. Release records include Widest Releases, Widest Independent Releases, Widest Opening Independent Releases, Widest PG-13 Rated Openings, and Widest PG-13 Rated Releases.

There’s been quite a bit of discussion online regarding the film’s box office success. In particular, I wonder about the fairness of comparing the Twilight films against each other. The validity of judging Eclipse vs. New Moon is questionable given their strikingly different release schedules. As I’ve been saying since it opened, the idea was not to compete against or beat New Moon’s early numbers. That may be a goal of some people but the idea is to make money, and maybe set some records in the process.

First, there is no way that a “weekend” that begins on a Wednesday can be compared to a “normal” 3-day weekend (when New Moon opened). At that point New Moon had been in theaters 10 days while Eclipse had been out for 12 days. So any comparison between the two based on how many “weekends” it’s been out simply isn’t valid. Next, look at the time of year the two films were released. New Moon came out during the Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday season. It’s a big time of year for Hollywood but still doesn’t compare to summer, when they put out their “tentpole” films — the potential blockbusters that will keep the studios in the black for another year. The competition is much more fierce beginning Memorial Day weekend through the 4th of July. It’s simply a different marketplace.

Is Summit happy with the first few weeks’ box office returns? I don’t know but I’m fairly sure they must be. Again, the goal was not to “beat New Moon.” That may be something the press or some others will latch on to but it’s simply not a fair comparison. It was very easy to compare Twilight to New Moon since they opened at the same time one year apart. Not so much New Moon to Eclipse. I think it’s wise to just see how the film does over time in its own right.

E!: Christoph Waltz Mentions Rob and Oscars

“Oh, I don’t know. I don’t think about Oscars.”

—Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz, who is currently filming Water for Elephants with Robert Pattinson, on whether Rob will follow in his and costar Reese Witherspoon‘s footsteps one day.

Waltz, who we caught up with after the Green Hornet panel at Comic-Con, is playing the villain type in both flicks (big surprise), but he joked it’s always “the other guys that are wrong” not him.

Waltz told us that filming is going “very well” despite the paparazzi hounding their set, which is now a daily occurrence.

So can you really blame Rob for getting fed up with the stalkarazzi while trying to enjoy a day off in Malibu over the weekend?

Either way, good security on set for Water for Elephants is keeping the paps at bay as much as possible.

Waltz told us that despite WFE being one of the most talked-about sets right now, he’s totally enjoying working with Rob and Reese and all the baggage that comes with.

But his favorite co-star?

“I love working with the elephants,” Waltz smiled.
