Eclipse Soundtrack Reviewed

If you’re pumped about the music in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, you’ll want to take a look at the Twilight Examiner’s exclusive new review of the Eclipse soundtrack, due out June 8th. They give it four out of five stars, saying:

I think the difference between the Eclipse soundtrack and the New Moon soundtrack is that, with Eclipse, there is more room for a schism of tempos. To go from the very movement-oriented “Chop and Change” (by The Black Keys) to the minimalistic and sweet “My Love” (by Sia) is more palatable here because, frankly, the story warrants it more.

Over all, a very smart soundtrack with an enjoyable amount of layers.

Breaking Dawn Director: ‘I’m Just So Turned On By This Book’

Speaking to NBC, Bill Condon — The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’s new director — talked a bit about what made him interested in doing the movies:

Condon will [soon] start thinking about the “Breaking Dawn” and the series’ conclusion. The thought of the seemingly daunting task before him only gets Condon pumped up. He even said he’s “excited” to shoot Bella’s extreme birth scene.

“I’m just so turned on by this book,” Condon said. “It’s everything you hope could happen in a book, plus the strangest things you could ever imagine.”

Over 400 Bands Competed to be on the ‘Eclipse’ Soundtrack

Hollywood News is back with another great article from the newest edition of Rolling Stone Magazine. The article looks at the fierce competition there was to get a spot on the Eclipse soundtrack and the huge number of bands that tried for that spot. Check out more below:

With the soundtracks to “Twilight” and “New Moon” selling a combined 3.6 million copies, it is no surprise that up-and-coming bands were clamoring for a spot on the soundtrack to “Eclipse”. The biggest winners, according to Rolling Stone, have been “indie, alt, and emo bands”, yet even well-known stars such as Adam Lambert (who told MTV he hoped his song “Suburban Decay” would be considered for “Eclipse”) said they had songs they’d love to see on the soundtrack.

While bands are always looking for more exposure, Death Cab for Cutie manager Jordan Kurland said it best. “There aren’t a whole lot of ways to sell records anymore, and [getting a song on a major soundtrack] is a guaranteed way of doing that”. The manager went on to discuss how inclusion of the band’s song, “Meet Me on the Equinox”, on the “New Moon” soundtrack also beefed up merchandise sales.

“Great songs were sent in by world-class talent,” said “Eclipse” music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas of the selection process for the soundtrack. Yet the article admitted that certain other artists (such as Trent Reznor) were approached, but that “nothing came of the discussions”. Patsavas went on to characterize the soundtrack as having a “louder, more dissonant component to the music.”

New Rob Interview/Audio with NovaFM

Robert Pattinson has gushed about girlfriend and co-star Kristen Stewart, calling her surprisingly fierce.

The Twilight vampire told Merrick, Dools and Ricki-Lee that meeting the 20-year-old actress for the first time was “weird”.

“It was weird. I mean, everything about the pairing with Kristen kind of worked out for the story,” he said.

“I went in to the audition having absolutely no idea of what to do and because of the way she was playing it kind of shocked me into doing a performance that I didn’t realise I could do.

“I guess she brings a kind of toughness and also a kind of mystery to Bella, which is not really there in the book.

“She’s kind of in a lot of ways, a damsel in distress in the book, and Kristen’s very…there’s a kind of fierce fierceness behind her, which I didn’t really expect the actress who played Bella would have.”

The British actor said he is still surprised at the success of Twilight and that its success puts a certain pressure on him.

“In the beginning I had no idea. It seems to get bigger and bigger and bigger every week that is going past,” he said.

“I feel pressure to live up to making a good movie, but I mean the expectations are so diverse.”"

#3 Kristen Stewart (up 87 places)

A simply stunning performance for the 20-year-old star of the $700m-grossing-and-counting Twilight mega franchise. With one movie left in the trilogy (Eclipse), and a BAFTA Rising Star award on her sideboard, the LA-born actress is taking on more challenging roles. First she stars as jailbait rocker Joan Jett in The Runaways, then a Tony Soprano-baiting prostitute in Welcome To The Rileys and finally in K-11 she’ll play Butterfly, a male-to-female transsexual with autism, which ironically is also Twilight’s target demographic.

Rob and Taylor: Who’s the Better Trainer?

That really shouldn’t be a question — on one hand you’ve got Robert Pattinson, who’s in pretty good shape for a vampire, but on the other hand, you’ve got Taylor Lautner, whose muscles have muscles. Even so, in an interview with MTV, Elizabeth Reaser talked about how hard both actors work to get in shape.

On Rob:

I was impressed with Rob … this stuff is really hard to do and we trained for hours and hours and hours and he worked really hard. And he’s a great actor, so he really committed to what he was doing and it looked great from what I saw.
And on Taylor:

He’s the most fit person I have ever seen in my entire life. Taylor doesn’t even have to train. He can stand here and do a back flip for no reason using five percent of his energy he’s so fit.

Rob in Famous Magazine

The love stuff comes easy to Robert Pattinson by now. What the actor’s most worried about is how his fight scenes with bigger, brawnier Taylor Lautner will look in the third Twilight movie, Eclipse.

Grisly deaths plague Seattle. Vampires fight werewolves. Vampires and werewolves unite to battle, um, badder vampires.

Apparently, the filmmakers are doing all they can to make Eclipse, the third movie in the Twilight saga, appealing to boys. But we all know this series is really about the relationship between dreamy vampire Edward Cullen and his human love, Bella. And the core female audience should have plenty to moon over when the second sequel hits screens this month, just seven months after the last entry, New Moon.
“In New Moon, Edward tries to deal with the relationship and, sort of, fails,” Robert Pattinson, who plays Cullen, says in an L.A. interview. “In Eclipse, it really is the everyday rigmarole of having a relationship, and dealing with jealousy and pettiness.”

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner Visit Australia

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are in Australia to promote Eclipse. Why isn’t Robert Pattinson there? He’s filming Water For Elephants. The Sydney Morning Herald has a report of what Taylor and Kristen have been doing before their Q & A on Monday:

“The pair enjoyed a jet boat ride on Sydney Harbour on Sunday, before paying a visit to Featherdale Wildlife Park in the city’s west.

They saw koalas, baby crocodiles and wombats during the trip.

On Sunday evening they had dinner at Bondi Icebergs.

Both were driven around in a convoy of Cadillac Escalade SUVs amid tight security and heavy media interest.

Teen heart-throb and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson is not with them, but fans will get a chance to meet their idols.

Stewart and Lautner are due to be grilled by fans in a Q&A session at Sydney’s Luna Park on Monday.

So-called Twi-hards lucky enough to score tickets to the event will be treated to a screening of the second Twilight movie New Moon after the Q&A.

But the Twilight love isn’t limited to Sydney.

Fans across the country will be able to watch a live feed of the Q&A broadcast to selected cinemas nationally, to be followed by a screening of New Moon.”

Alex tells that he admires people who go through a physical change for their work. He comments that actors like Tom Hardy are the kind of people he aspires to work with. Michigan Pushing To Have Breaking Dawn Filmed In Their State

According to MLive.com the state of Michigan is pushing towards having Breaking Dawn filmed in their state, and offering some tax incentives to try to draw the film there -

Janet Lockwood, director of the Michigan Film Office, says her staff will contact the production company to suggest the Mitten State as a potential film location. Filming is planned for this fall with a 2011 release date, according to imdb. .”We would love to have them film here,” said Lockwood. “The film locations would become tourism sites for people who are fans of the movies and books.”

If there is any truth to the rumor floating around that Louisiana is being considered because of its generous film tax incentives, Michigan might have a shot.

Percentage-wise, Michigan’s incentives — which offer up to a 42 percent tax break — are higher than Louisiana’s 25 percent tax break. This Gulf Coast state also throws in an additional 10 percent for crew hired from the state, Lockwood said.

But Michigan caps its tax credits for salaries at $2 million, which isn’t the case in Louisiana, she said.

“Even though we give a higher percentage, (filmmakers) can make a bigger rebate in Louisiana,” Lockwood said.

There might be some terrain issues with Michigan filling in for the northern Washington town of Forks, the setting of the teenage vampire love story. Michigan’s forests lack the peaks of the northwest.

Although none of the first three films were made in Washington, they were filmed in surrounding Pacific Northwest. Twilight was made in Oregon while New Moon and the soon-to-be-released Eclipse were filmed in Vancouver, Canada.

What Michigan lacks in mountains, it makes up in sandy beaches which could be perfect for the tropical island setting where vampire Edward Cullen and his bride Bella honeymoon.

“We could play the Caribbean easily,” Lockwood said.

The only problem is filming wouldn’t begin until after summer.

Interview with Emily Haines from the Band Metric

Emily Haines is the lead singer of the band Metric whose song, Eclipse (All Yours), is on the Eclispe Soundtrack.
Interview Magazine has an interview with her.

Here is an excerpt:

NIKA: You recently announced that Metric wrote the theme song, “Eclipse (All Yours),” for Twilight: Eclipse. How did you get involved with the biggest pop cultural franchise of our time?

HAINES: It was one of the most out of the blue things that could ever happen. I got a call from Howard Shore–who scored Lord of the Rings and David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch–and he invited me to write a song with him for the movie, which is totally different than simply contributing a song to the soundtrack. I immediately said yes. It was an amazing experience. I watched the scenes; I’m not an actress, but I was speaking for Bella, in a way. I didn’t know much about the series going in, but I didn’t need to be a fan.

Twitter Ruins Kristen Stewart’s Life

Twitter can be a fun place to get updates from celebrities and chat with your friends, but one person who definitely isn’t into it: Kristen Stewart.

In an interview with Flaunt magazine (via JustJaredJr.), the famously candid Twilight star had some harsh words to say about it while describing an encounter with a fan:

He [a fan] was nice. He didn’t ask for a picture. That’s good, because then they go and Twitter them and then the paparazzi know where I am and they drive to my location and it gets crazy. Twitter ***** me over every day of my life. Because people go, ‘I’m sitting next to Kristen Stewart right now’ and then they show up. I see people on their phones and I just want to take these cookies and throw them. It’s like ‘Get off your ****** phone and get a life!’ It’s so annoying.

Robert Pattinson and The Twilight Saga – How are they similar?

There is absolutely no doubt on the success rate of Robert Pattinson and Rob starrer Twilight Saga. Both the film and the actor are immensely popular faces in Hollywood these days. And the frequency with which both get acclamations from the industry is worth appreciating.

There is a new feather in the caps of the above mentioned entities. Robert Pattinson has proved it once again! So has his main celluloid venture Twilight!

And the recent name to award them was National Movie Awards 2010.

Twilight Saga has collected three awards including the one won by Robert Pattinson as the Best Performer. While New Moon grabbed the best Fantasy flick, Eclipse collected Vue Most Anticipated Summer Movie.

Well, isn’t it great to hear that? There seems no halt at the success story of Robert Pattinson and his Hollywood projects. And we are sure that the craze is not gonna die out sooner.

Rob has bagged many a title for his huge popularity including the Sexiest Man Alive and the Best Dressed Man. He has received several Best Performance awards for his vampire flick and yes, he deserves those!

The point is…Twilight is a huge hit! And so is Robert Pattinson. And interestingly, both the film and the actor have a long, long way to go and the journey leads to success and even more achievements.

Aren’t they similar in terms of accomplishment? Good luck to both!

Behind The Cover Video Of Kristen for Elle Magazine

Kristen Stewart snagged the cover of this month’s Elle UK — and we have to say, we think she looks fabulous. While her American Elle cover made her look a little too country club for our tastes, this editorial is young enough and undone enough for what seems to be Stewart’s M.O. Also, we’re loving the thigh-highs.

ivillage Analyzes Robert Pattinson’s Charity Submission Artwork

If you’d like to own a one-of-a-kind piece of Twilight memorabilia, now’s your chance — eBay is auctioning off an original Robert Pattinson sketch for charity. Pattinson, 24, joins a handful of mostly-British celebs who contributed artwork to support PACT (Parents and Abducted Children Together), a charity that fights child abduction and finds missing children. Not only is Pattinson the hottest name on the charity’s roster, but he also contributed the most interesting balloon sketch (the balloon being the PACT logo).

The description on the auction claims that the Twilight star’s abstract drawing “may just be an original self-portrait” — which, honestly, seems like a stretch. But as long as everyone is analyzing the drawing anyway, here’s what our amateur doodle deduction skills tell us:

- The lines in the balloon are random and frantic, meaning Pattinson has a restless energy. Abstract shapes and jagged angles mean that he may be tense and have difficulty concentrating.
- While other celebs stayed far inside the lines, Pattinson extends to the edge of the balloon with his drawing, even crossing the border. This indicates an oversized ego and a healthy dose of rebelliousness.
- A few shapes inside the balloon resemble eyes; drawing eyes can be a sign of paranoia. (Hmm, why would R-Pattz be paranoid? It’s not like he’s being watched all the time. Oh, wait…)

Even if the actor isn’t trying to communicate the depths of his soul through this sketch, it’s still a far cooler piece of memorabilia than a mere autograph — and it’s for a good cause. If you have a bunch of cash burning a hole in your pocket, you can bid here through June 5.

MTV: Elizabeth Reaser Mentions Rob *Video*

“Eclipse” is certainly going to have some high-octane action scenes in it, which means that the entire cast had to train in order to get their bad-ass on for the flick. While Taylor Lautner had been hitting the gym for quite some time in order to play hunky werewolf Jacob Black, the rest of the cast hadn’t necessarily had that type of physical commitments to make to the “Twilight” franchise until the third film.

Elizabeth Reaser admits everyone had a hard time keeping up Taylor — including Robert Pattinson, who, we have to admit, doesn’t really seem like the type of guy who regularly makes it a point to pump iron.

“Well Taylor, he’s the most fit person I have ever seen in my entire life,” Elizabeth recently dished to MTV News. “Taylor doesn’t even have to train. He can stand here and do a back flip for no reason using five percent of his energy he’s so fit.”

So, how did Rob keep up? Is he secretly some sort of gym fanatic? “I don’t think so!” she laughed. “I was impressed with Rob though. This stuff is really hard to do and we trained for hours and hours and hours and he worked really hard. And he’s a great actor, so he really committed to what he was doing and it looked great from what I saw.”

“Breaking Dawn” Director Bill Condon Yet to Sink Teeth Into “Twilight” Finale

Director Bill Condon, who faces the epic task of helming the final film installment of “Twilight,” said he hasn’t even thought about bringing the wildly popular vampire series to a conclusion with “Breaking Dawn.”

“I’m not even in Twilight-land yet,” the director told PopcornBiz.

Instead, the Oscar-winning director is kept up at night by fixating on his HBO pilot “Tilda” starring Diane Keaton and Ellen Page. “That’s all I’m thinking about right now,” he said.

In the pilot, Keaton plays an entertainment blogger “who takes on big entrenched interests” in show business. To prepare for the part, Keaton has become a bit of blogger junkie.

“She’s doing it on her own and she’s loving it,” Condon said.

After he’s done with that, Condon will start thinking about the “Breaking Dawn” and the series’ conclusion.

Kristen's full interview with Flaunt Magazine

Out of Focus: KRISTEN STEWART

The actress stars in a shocking new rock biopic, carving out a niche of respect after years of teenybopper fare.

written by Gregg LaGambina

The courtyard looks like a wedding cake. Take a pickaxe to all this swept marble and you’d hit yellow sponge made from eggs, milk, and margarine. Perfect triangles of evergreen leap from topiary tubs, fountains make chlorinated arcs into shallow pools emptied of even a single tossed penny. And there in the distance is our misplaced plastic bride, truant from the cake top, a few layers down, slouched against a cream-colored column in a sunlit archway, exhaling Camel smoke. She is looking at the ground and looking everywhere at the same time.

“I knew it was going to be you,” she says cryptically, raising her head and stamping out the cigarette.

To be Kristen Stewart takes antennae. Offset from the scant groupings of hotel guests and khaki-panted walkabouts slowly roaming the manicured grounds, Stewart is hiding badly. Even if she were not that girl from Twilight, she’d be that girl over there from who-knows-where, in black jeans and a gray t-shirt, smoking and glowering and trying very hard not to look anyone in the eyes. With her invisible province breached by my approaching footsteps, her guard eases only slightly after an introduction.

Seated now near a new tree planted in freshly combed dirt, a nervous waiter takes drink orders and scurries off, all of his body language mutely bellowing “I know who you are!” Stewart is talking about Sean Penn. She knows him. She appeared in his film Into the Wild a few years ago and she just bumped into him out in front of the building. She had said, “What’s up?” He half-smirked and said, “Haiti.” They tried to linger, to smoke and talk, but in a matter of minutes, shutters were clicking, some paparazzi had gathered, and the conversation was abruptly over.

Now, freshly agitated, Stewart’s entire aspect is animated by nuisance. She winces with pain, clutching at her neck. “I must’ve slept on it wrong. Every time I look over my shoulder, it kills.” (Regardless, she’ll persist to peer behind her every so often with an audible start, turning back around with a grimace.) Everything has conspired and aligned here perfectly this afternoon for Stewart to generously, and without pause, talk shit about whatever topic merits her ire. Fame is always a good place to begin.

“If I could go to work every day and not have to be followed around by fucking fifteen gangsters trying to take my picture, willing to do anything for one… It’s not normal,” she says. “It’s funny how in America fame is placed so fucking high—above wealth, above happiness, above everything. It’s so not true. And I knew that before [I was famous]. It was so obvious to me. I don’t know how people can’t see that from an outsider’s perspective. My perspective is the same: it’s exactly what I thought it would be.”

The waiter returns with iced tea and soda, apologizing for interrupting, but wanting to let us know that the kitchen will be closing soon and if we want anything cooked, now’s the time to say so. Stewart politely declines, moving ice cubes around in her glass with a clear plastic straw. The waiter disappears like mist.

The thing is, she’s not ranting. She’s not dour, mean-spirited, or even complaining. All of this is like describing the clouds, or the leaves on the trees. They are things that exist in the world and she is talking about them. She’ll soon be 20 years old. One film almost three years ago made her the most famous teenaged actress in America and people twice her age write blurbs saying she should smile more. Or wear different shoes. Or get a new haircut. And she’s right. It’s all very fucking stupid.

“It’s very aggressive, too,” she says. “If fame is the optimum, ultimate position you could ever imagine yourself in, then you would just be the luckiest person in the world. So, anything could happen to them and you shouldn’t care. Why would you care or feel bad about a famous person? They’re famous! I really appreciate everything in my life, but that’s not why I started acting.”

In the gulf between Twilights Two and Three, Stewart is attempting to loosen the vice grip of franchise-driven notoriety by playing serious roles in smaller films. It’s an oft-played strategy of the recently fan-swarmed, but it’s no more or less calculated than the mania surrounding her as Bella Swan. It can’t be planned. It’s all dumb luck. If anything, it’s the largesse of the vampire fiends who’ve unwittingly allowed these other films to get made and maybe even seen.

In music-video director Floria Sigismondi’s feature debut The Runaways, Stewart takes on the creation myth of one Joan Jett in her earliest days as a pre-packaged punk rocker before she left and launched her celebrated career fronting the Blackhearts. Any stylist with a thimbleful of talent could’ve made Stewart look like Jett, but to fill in the fabled space of an already-made icon is something else. It takes acting and Stewart does her best in a middling film comprised heavily of the clichÈd rise-and-fall melodrama seen before in countless other movies about the same thing. It’s all about mood and lighting and wardrobe and the slow-motion snorting of drugs. In short, it looks and feels like it was made by a music-video director.

Plus, it’s Dakota Fanning’s movie, really. All tarted up and lip-glossed as Cherie Currie, she makes any gent in the room old enough to use a razor squirm in their seats damply like Humbert Humbert (if they happen to recall she’s still a full year shy of her sweet sixteenth). But Stewart is good in it. Only a few minutes in and you’re thinking of Jett not Robert Pattison and his lovingly brandished fangs. And that’s no small feat considering the gluttonous market reach of those Twilight films that have befuddled even this waiter—who’s back now, by the way—hovering with a silver tray of freshly baked cookies.

“On the house!” he announces, and just as quick, flutters away like a bow-tied dragonfly.

But it’s Stewart’s other new film that might actually do the trick. In director Jake Scott’s Welcome to the Rileys, she plays Mallory, a street-nymph lap-dancer adrift in New Orleans until the well-intentioned James Gandolfini shows up and forces her to get her fucking shit straight like only James Gandolfini can. It played along with Runaways at this year’s Sundance and it was Rileys that surprised, inspiring even the beloved Roger Ebert to wax, “Who knew she had these notes? I’m discovering an important new actress.”

“That was awesome,” Stewart says of Sundance, glaring at the newly arrived plate of baked goods like it’s a shoe that fell from the sky. “It was the most satisfying experience to be able to sit in front of 300 people who had just seen the movie. Even more so with Rileys because that girl is so broken. I couldn’t get her out of me for a while. It was scary. To be able to talk about that with people who have just seen it, that was the most insane experience.

“I was so scared of going to Sundance,” she continues. “I thought everyone would write shit reviews. I thought everyone was waiting, itching to say that I should just go back to Twilight. And no one said that. I put so much into it. I would have died working on that movie. So if they did say those bad things, then I might as well just stop now. I got really lucky because those two movies happened to be so different [from Twilight]. I choose my work instinctually. I couldn’t have a plan. I would always fall short. What I do is so impulsive. Who knows what you’re going to connect with and then be able to live up to? I can’t just read a script and say it’s great because there’s a part for me, my age, perfect—I can’t live that life. You know what I mean? That’s just not me.”

Suddenly, an overweight older woman appears tableside, gesturing at the cookies. “Ooh! Do we get some of these too?”

“No,” the waiter says, matter-of-factly, seeming to appear from the same magical finger snap that borne them both.

“What makes these people so special?” the older lady smiles and winks conspiratorially at Stewart, who is holding her neck again, with a slight grimace, exploring the pinched nerve (or whatever it is) that’s been plaguing her usually keen ability to scan for these kinds of interlopers. We push the plate nearer to the woman and her eyes widen. Gratified, she waddles off, the sound of crisp oatmeal giving way to eager teeth.

This, apparently, has created an opening, as a mustachioed black man in a yellow polo tucked into smartly pressed trousers is clasping his hands nervously and awaiting his turn to talk. “I’m sorry. I just wanted to say that I’m just a really big fan. Is this your agent? I don’t mean to interrupt. I’m just a big fan. Hello.”

“Thanks,” says Stewart, manufacturing a convincing benevolence, slightly smiling even.

The man stands there a moment or two longer, a small infinity that makes everything slow down to an awkward standoff. He finally backs away, bowing almost, and returns to his own table. [Later, the waiter will whisper to me, “Sorry about that. We’ve been having problems with him lately.” Meaning what, I’ll never know, and leaving all sorts of odd scenarios in the mind’s eye to fill in the blank left by the word “problems.”]

“He was nice, at least.”

“He was nice,” she concedes. “He didn’t ask for a picture. That’s good, because then they go and Twitter them and then the paparazzi know where I am and they drive to my location and it gets crazy. Twitter fucks me over every day of my life. Because people go, ‘I’m sitting next to Kristen Stewart right now’ and then they show up. I see people on their phones and I just want to take these cookies and throw them. It’s like ‘Get off your fucking phone and get a life!’ I get so mad. It’s like you’re trampling on someone’s life without any regard. And it’s rampant. Everyone can do it now. Buy a camera and you’re paparazzi; get a Twitter account and you’re an informant. It’s so annoying.”

So, we’re back to the beginning, talking about this again. Perhaps it’s unavoidable sitting out here in the sun in Beverly Hills where half the people are famous and the other half are asking them for handshakes (or interviews). Or a fucking cookie for Christ’s sake. Might as well embrace it.

“Have you ever punched anyone in the face?”

“No!” she says, laughing slightly. “I’ve hit people, but I’ve never clocked someone.”

“People think you smoke a lot of pot.”

“People say that all the time. People are like, ‘She’s on crack. She’s a dopehead.’”

“How do you muster the strength to even leave the house?”

“You just go into the mode of ‘Don’t give a fuck.’ Otherwise…” And that word just hangs there. Otherwise what? Someone gets punched? Cookies get thrown? The more obvious question becomes: Then why sit here and listen to questions and pose for photographs to go along with your answers? How can you possibly justify complaining after participating?

“Right,” she pauses. “I don’t have an answer for that. I guess people just want you to be so over the moon for the position you’re in that you have no principals, you have no sense of the world around you, and you’re living in a celebrity fantasyland. Is that what they want?”

I shrug. I might even nod.

“Well, I don’t want to be that and they can continue to talk shit. But that’s just scary.”

No, what’s scary is that a grown man (at least twice her age) got up from his table to tell Kristen Stewart that he’s a big fan. A fan of what, exactly? Assuming he’s referring to the films she’s appeared in—and it’s probably safe to bet he’s only seen the pair of Twilight installments—what does he want in exchange for his hello? A story, probably. Something to tell someone else that adds a discernable ounce of worth and weight to his own life, tipping the scales ever-so-slightly in his favor. Or something like that. But if I were him and he could hear what I was thinking right now, I’d tell me to fuck right off. (Or something like that.)

But the fact is, this young woman sitting at this table (the one where a cookie has gone missing) is engaging and charismatic and smart and pretty. The precision of her disdain and general enthusiasm for shit-kicking is infectious. She makes you want to root for her. Sure those high school vampire flicks can be mocked easily and often, but you’re a liar (or lack an essential levity in your life) if you weren’t entertained at least by their overwhelming eagerness to entertain.

But most of all, every time she looks over her shoulder and winces, you wince too. The vigor with which she’s clutching on to any semblance of authenticity is something you’d like to help her to keep too. Yeah, sure, she’s mostly that girl from Twilight, an idea she rightfully loathes, but an actual thing for which she seems grateful. If Welcome to the Rileys is evidence of anything, she’ll be more than that in time. That is, if a world full of fluttery waiters, cookie thieves, and dumbstruck fanboys trapped in adult bodies don’t beat down her will. Ah, fuck it. I’m a fan now too. Sorry. Throw me on the burning pile with the rest of them.

“Yeah, I definitely act differently. I’m definitely overcoming a lot of it. The only insecurity I’ve developed is just being overly paranoid about everyone looking at you when they’re not,” she admits, grabbing at the pain in her neck again, arresting herself from the unending urge to look around. “I used to love getting out and tripping around, but now I have to look at the ground. Otherwise, you’re inviting interaction every thirty seconds which is impossible to manage. But that’s not everywhere. I can still go places. It’s not sad, it just sort of is.

“I really love what I do. It’s just a different life,” she concludes, pressing fingers deeper into the tendons above her shoulder blade. “I get defensive and that has probably perpetuated people’s idea of me never smiling. I kind of shake my leg too, so people think I’m always uncomfortable. I understand why people say I’m such a negative Nancy. I can’t pretend. I’ve always been involved, very personal. I like to write too. Acting and living and writing: it’s all one and the same. It’s just consideration for other people and yourself.”

“Part of your wanting to act, to write, comes from your interest in other people?”

“Yeah, me being one of them!”

Kristen Stewart smiles. She finally drops her hand from her neck, looks up, and smiles. There’s no one around. The restaurant’s closed. There’s no one here to tweet or text. Anyone with a real camera is likely chasing Sean Penn down some nearby hallway. But goddamnit if the woman didn’t just smile and no one was here to see it. We both look around and silently decide the conversation might as well end here.

“Well, I won’t put you through any more pain.”

“Yeah, that was awful,” she says, standing up to leave.

Interview With Julia Jones

Jones says “Twlight” fans shouldn’t be worried about “Eclipse.” She promises it will be good – and true to the series. “It’s going to look so cool,” Jones said, beaming. “That’s one of my favorite parts of this franchise – each one of the installments is a completely different movie. They can get away with that because they have Melissa Rosenberg, the same screenwriter, and they have [author] Stephenie Meyer, who has enough input.”

ClevverTV Video Kellan Lutz & Nina Dobrev Married? (not really it's a movie)

Exclusive: Tyson Houseman talks 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse'

Tyson Houseman, who portrays "Quil" in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, took time to discuss with a select few fansites his experience in being a part of one of the world's biggest film franchises.

Q: So even though your character was introduced in New Moon, you really didn’t get to jump into the action until Eclipse. Did you kind of feel a little bit like Quil – that you were left out of the fun? And was it worth the wait getting to participate more in Eclipse?

Tyson: Yeah, there were actually a lot of similarities between me and the character. In New Moon, like you said, I only had like one day of shooting on set, and so every time I would see the other wolf guys they would always talk about all the fun times they were having on set, and stuff like that. And I kinda felt like I was missing out on that. And so I was really excited for Eclipse when we started that one. I was a wolf and a member of the wolf pack. So I got to hang out with the guys again and do all the stuff with them and that was really similar to what the character Quil was doing, too.

Q: You really didn’t have to do the whole bulk up fitness routine, and I was just wondering how challenging it was for you to catch up with the rest of the cast members in the fitness regimen for the film?

Tyson: Well, it wasn’t that hard for me, because even though I wasn’t actually a wolf in New Moon, they still put me in the wolf pack training. So I was used to all the grueling work outs with the guys, and I kind of made it a goal for myself that by the time Eclipse started filming, that I was gonna get into really good physical shape so that I could keep up with the other guys and I think I did that pretty well.

Q: We heard about a lot of the male bonding that went on before New Moon. Did you guys get together and do some fun stuff during the filming of Eclipse?

Tyson: Yeah, we had to do another series of workouts together before the film just to stay fit, and that was really fun. It was a great way for us to bond together. We went through a lot of pain together, and we always went to (dinner) after something like that. So it was a really great time. It was really good having friends on the set.

Q: Imprinting is a huge part of the book. Do we see that addressed at all in Eclipse, and if so, how do you feel about your character having to go through with that?

Tyson: Well, I mean, I was a little worried at first because it can come off as a little bit creepy to someone who doesn’t actually know what the whole idea of imprinting means, but they do a really good job of explaining it, and introducing it, and everything like that. And it’s portrayed really well in Eclipse so that you actually understand what it really is and so that people aren’t going to be leaving saying, “Oh that’s creepy. He’s in love with a two year old.”

Q: How was your experience working with Chris Weitz on New Moon to then transitioning to work with David Slade on Eclispe. Did you enjoy it? Was there one you preferred over the other?

Tyson: Well I just thought it was a really great opportunity that I was able to work with two different directors for the same project, for the same series. I thought that was really fun. Chris – he was a really nice guy. He was really cheery. He was always supportive and he was really funny. I feel like I got along really well with him. He was like there for you. And, um, David – it was really cool working with David, too, because he had a different style. He was more meticulous about it. He was more in depth and intricate at trying to get all the little details right which I was really happy about because he stuck really well to the series and to the book.

Q: Lots of members of the wolfpack have talked about getting a wolfpack tattoo when all filming is said and done, and some people say, “Yes, we’re all doing it,” and some people say, “No, I’m not doing it.” What’s your feeling on the tattoo?

Tyson: Well, originally I was thinking that I just didn’t want to do it. Like I understood why they would want to do it, but I wasn’t. But lately Kiowa has been pressuring me, like all the time, to get the tattoo, so, I dunno. I think I may end up having to do it.

Q: You talked about how filming Eclipse was physically hard to do, but was there anything that you had a hard time with and really fought through as far as the acting is concerned in filming Eclispe?

Tyson: There were a few parts of it that seemed a little bit tough, but I just tried my hardest to try to have fun with it as much as I could. Like I said, it was great having the support of the other wolfpack guys there just cause they were such good friends, and everyone else on set, too, were friendly and welcoming and nice, and we’re all just really, really high energy. So that really contributed to any challenges that I would have acting through a scene or something like that. And it was really great having the director there to help, too.

Q: A lot of people always ask about crazy fan experiences, and I just wanted to hear about your best fan experience.

Tyson: Well there’s always the ones about like the little girls who are too afraid to come up to you because they think you’re actually a wolf. I’ve had that happen to me a few times. It’s pretty cute and they’re just terrified. Other than that, I had this woman who was like 70 or 80 years old. She was a tiny, old lady, and she was the biggest fan ever. It was really cool.

Q: What responsibility do you feel to the fans of the series to get your character spot on right? And did that add to any of the choices that you made?

Tyson: Well it definitely - it added – there was a lot of heaviness to it, like there was pressure to get it right. But I felt like, you know, the directors and producers and casting directors picked me for a reason and they liked what I had, so I just sort of trusted that I had the look of the character and I could fit into the abilities of the characters easily enough just by – you know, I studied the books as hard as I could, and I got everything right with the character to the best of my abilities. And I just have to trust that the fans will like that.

Q: What was your most exciting memory from shooting?

Tyson: Well there was this one time where, we were shooting this scene where all of the wolf pack guys, we just basically had to run across a field really quickly. And we were bare feet and it was really, really muddy and really wet in the field. And every time we shot a take, someone would fall on their butt while we were running. And it was really funny for me because every time we were about to shoot, Alex would try to pep talk us and be like, “Okay guys, this is what you have to do. You have to run on the balls of your feet.” Or, “You have to stay on your toes.” Because he’s a dancer. He’s been dancing for a really long time. And it was really funny because every time he would try to give us pointers, we would do a take and then he would be the one who would fall on his butt. It was really funny.

Q: The fans have a question for you. They want to know what advice you have for them, mostly for your Native American fans, on how they can break into acting.

Tyson: Basically, the only advice I can give really is to just do the work. It involves a lot of hard work and a lot of people think that it’s an easy job. Like, there are some easy aspects to it, but there’s also a lot of really, really hard stuff to do. Like when you go to an audition, you have to know it like the back of your hand. Like you have to be – you have to put in effort in order to get something out of it. I guess that kind of applies to anything, but that’s really what I can say. You gotta put in the effort to get something.

Q: On the DVD commentary for New Moon, Chris Weitz kind of made and off-hand comment about your audition process. And he said that you just kind of rolled on the street and saw a big line and asked what was going on. Can you tell us a little bit more about how you came to audition for New Moon?

Tyson: Well, I didn’t even know that it was going to be for New Moon, actually. They just said the audition was for a major motion picture and they weren’t releasing the name of the movie that it was for. But when I should up to see what was going on, there was a line up of 4 or 5 block long filled with Twilight fans, with like books and t-shirts and everything. So I kinda figured it out then that it was probably going to be for New Moon. And they told me that they were looking for anyone who had Native American background and who was between the ages of 15 and 25. And I was like, well I fit that description, so I’ll try this up. And I basically just tried it for the experience because I really didn’t expect to get anything out of it, but I ended up doing the audition really well, and I got a call back after that. And a week later they called me saying I got the part.

Q: We’ve had a lot of requests for your Twitter! Is it something you would consider in the future, being part of the Twitter world?

Tyson: Well, yeah, it is. I mean I don’t have anything right now. Anything that’s out there right now is a fake one, even if they say that they’re not fake, or anything like that. But I’m the works of building a website for myself right now – a fan site. And once I get that running, I’ll be able to make a Facebook and a Twitter and a MySpace and things like that, just so that fans can connect there. [Tyson has since joined Twitter - @TysonHouseman]

Q: How you would compare the fight scenes between New Moon and what we’re going to see in Eclipse without, you know, revealing too much about the movie?

Tyson: Well I know that the director, David Slade, he’s really good at that. Another movie he worked on, 30 Days of Night, was definitely a really gritty, dark, action movie. And so I think you can expect him to bring a lot of that into play. Like it’s gonna be a lot darker and it’s gonna be a lot grittier. And I think with the amount of action scenes that are going to be in it, it’s going to be way more guy-friendly. I mean, there’s an entire war that happens in this movie. So it will be really exciting to see.

Q: Eclipse seems to be one of the, if not the, most favorite book across the board in the fandom. How do you think that the screen play and the final film is going to appeal to the fans’ expectations for Eclipse?

Tyson: Well I know me, personally, Eclipse was my favorite book, too. And when I read the script for Eclipse and when I was doing work on Eclipse, I was really proud. I felt like it stuck really true to it and it translated really well from the book. So I think the fans are going to like it a lot.

Top 10 Twilight and New Moon moments to prepare you for Eclipse!

There's nothing better than a Twilight and New Moon Top 10 to prepare you for the release of Eclipse

1. Twilight: Bella sees Edward for the first time
The floppy hair, the awkward walk, the lusting eyes… sigh.

2. Twilight: Bella and Edward share their first kiss (see the video above for nostalgia!)
Any girl who says she isn’t jealous of the passion in this scene is a liar. The fact that Edward has to pull away because he can’t control himself is enough to make us all pine for a vampire of our own.

3. Twilight: Edward ignores the waitress’s advances in the restaurant
Not only does Edward save Bella from some psychos, he then completely ignores the flirty waitress and only has eyes for Bella. The perfect gent!

4. Twilight: The Cullen family baseball game
This scene is so popular that some fans even have Cullen baseball shirts. Who says women don’t like sports? Get some vampires involved and we’re there! The Muse soundtrack makes this scene even better.

5. Twilight: Bella tells Edward she knows he’s a vampire and they have a 'meadow' moment
More passion than we can handle. There’s something hot about how dangerous but protective Edward is, by this point we’re in love and there’s no going back.

6. New Moon: Jasper attacks Bella
Bella cuts her finger, Jasper pounces. This is the first chance we get to see the reality of being part of the Cullen coven, it also sets the storyline for New Moon.

7. New Moon: Edward leaves Bella, including the empty chapters
Kristen is perfect in this scene and it’s another pivotal moment that had to be done perfectly to make fans of the books happy. We LOVED the way the empty chapters were portrayed and Possibility was the perfect soundtrack choice.

8. New Moon: Jacob takes his shirt off
Yes, the screams in the cinema, we heard them all. In fact, we took part in them. Although, editor Geoff was less than impressed.

9. New Moon: Jacob saves Bella from the sea
Bella realises adrenaline makes her hallucinate Edward’s presence and goes cliff jumping. Luckily, Jacob plays the hero and saves her from the freezing water. Cue more topless Jacob shots.

10. New Moon: Bella saves Edward as he’s about to step into the sunlight in Italy
Kristen does a lot of running, we’re all jealous of her figure, then she sees R-Pattz, he’s topless (more cinema screams), she saves him, they kiss and we breathe a sigh of relief. Bliss.
