The Fashion Court – 2011 Style Verdicts, Featuring Rob

2. Robert Pattinson
He’s yet to wear a green suit, but Robert Pattinson didn’t lack on the red carpet this year at all. He didn’t look good just once, twice, or even three times — he had more than a handful of yummy looks in 2011, but I had to narrow down some of my favorites for this post. Shame, shame. Rob kicked off a stylish year with a Guccibespoke navy blue suit at the Golden Globe Awards that really popped with his reddish locks he was sporting for his role as Edward Cullen in “Breaking Dawn”.
Immediately after wrapping the final film in the “Twilight” saga, Rob took off on a global press tour for “Water for Elephants”.

For the NYC premiere he, once again, rocked a Gucci look — this time a textured dark grey suit with a deep, dark red tie. I guess that was the last bit of red I got from him this year; I’m holding out hope for another bordeaux suit like he wore last year for the “Eclipse” premiere.

Rob was feeling a bit blue for the rest of the tour! For the Australian premiere the sexy actor wore a striking grayish-blue two-button Prada suit, later he selected a navy design by Dries Van Noten when he brought the film to his home of London.
When it came time to release “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″, Rob rocked over ten suit looks for a crazy amount of premieres and talk show appearances — but nothing stood out to me like his Armani in London. Rob joined his co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner for the UK premiere of the film in November wearing head-to-toe Emporio Armani. The mixture of dark shades of grey in this single-button suit looked amazing on him. It didn’t hurt that his scruff and tousled hair were at their very best that night.

Birth Scene in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1″ makes MTV Best Movie Scenes Of 2011 List

6. Birth Scene in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″

The penultimate “Twilight” flick may not have made our list of the best movies of 2011, but it’s hard to argue there was a more memorable scene — by which we mean totally goddamn bonkers — than the sequence when pregnant Bella Swan goes into labor and Edward Cullen, after realizing that a mere scalpel can’t free their vampire/human spawn, goes to work on his wife’s womb with his fangs. Blood is spilled, gasps and/or guffaws are unleashed by moviegoers (depending on each one’s relative level of Twi-hardness), and cinematic history is made.” — E.D.

‘Twilight,’ Nicki Minaj On 2012 Pop-Culture Wish List

Get More: Music News

As the last few hours of this glorious, Adele-ified year disappear, MTV News is turning its attention to the next 12 months, which promise to be full of big-time blockbuster films (“Avengers,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “The Hunger Games”) and even bigger-time celebrity events (Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s baby, Britney’s betrothal, Robert Pattinson doing something) — oh yeah, and there’s also going to be a presidential election and the London Olympics and, potentially, the end of the world as we know it. So, basically, 2012 is totally going to smoke 2011.

But with so much to look forward to, what will be the event of the year? Well, we decided to take to the streets of New York’s Times Square, where the big shiny ball will drop at the stroke of midnight, to find out what’s topping your New Year’s wish list.

“I’m most looking forward to hopefully seeing a Nicki Minaj tour,” Adya Goswami said.

Alison Grant added, “My favorite is Lil Wayne, so I hope he puts something out again.”

Of course, while we got plenty of folks clamoring for new music, we heard from even more who couldn’t wait to check out the year’s biggest movies — and from the sound of things, 2012 might very well be the year of the bat. Or the vampire.
“The new Batman movie coming out should be an awesome movie,” Nick Stuart said.

Haley Race shared, “I’m really excited for the next ‘Twilight’ movie. I’m really a big fan. I’ve read the books like 40 times, each of them!”
And while “The Dark Knight Rises” and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ seem like sure bets, there are some New Year’s wishes that may not come true in 2012. After all, you can’t get everything you want.”

‘How to Make it in America’: If that show gets put back on the air, that would be great,” Steve Borrebach said.

3. Breaking Dawn Part 1

Though Twilight proved to be no match for Harry Potter or the Transformers franchises, it still made serious waves in 2011. Breaking Dawn Part 1 earned $271. 9 in the states, but it may have suffered from bad reviews: the film’s total gross finished behind that of New Moon and Eclipse.

Gurl Weinberg Talks to Yahoo Movies about his Role In Breaking Dawn

Photobucket

Yahoo Movies had a chance to talk with Guri Weinberg, who plays Stefan in Breaking Dawn Part 2, at the Official Twilight Convention in Dallas a few weeks ago. He had this to say about the preparation that went into his roll:

The role comes from Romania over 3,000 years ago. They didn’t have the same Romanian dialect as it is today because 3,000 years ago there was Greek, Roman, and Slavic influences. We had to learn Romanian dialect, switch it around, and add those things in so it would be a little more genuine to the time when they were human. That was the hardest thing because it doesn’t exist. You have to make it up.

That was the hardest thing, along with learning about those times 3,000 years ago. How was life then? How did they do things? They used to rule the vampire world so they were more royal. For 1,500 years they’ve been kicked out and beat by the Volturi. You’ve got the royal behavior and thought but they’ve been exiled. They don’t have that royalty anymore. Some of them just want the revenge. It’s all those things. They used to have wives. Some of them lost their wives. How does that all play into it?

There is so much excitement about the Romanian coven! Let us know in the comments why you think fans are looking forward to Vlad and Stefan.

'The Independent' Lists 'Bel Ami' And 'Cosmopolis' As Unmissable Cultural Treats

Bel Ami
Twilight's Robert Pattinson plays an unscrupulous journalist on the make in 19th century Paris in an adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's novel directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod (from theatre company Cheek by Jowl.) Long before phone hacking and the Leveson Inquiry, the film shows that journalists were using the most devious means to get ahead.
Release date: 2 March

Cosmopolis
A multi-millionaire young stockbroker heads across Manhattan in a limousine to have a haircut. It may not sound like much of a starting point for a film but David Cronenberg's screen version of Don DeLillo's novel promises to be a sleek and disturbing satire about narcissism and modernity. Robert Pattinson stars as the self-absorbed anti-hero.

22. Warm Bodies
Sales art looks a lot like “Twilight”, but don’t let that put you off, this tale of a zombie and human (Nicholas Houlter and Teresa Palmer, respectively) falling in love sounds very decent. The story, for one, sounds a lot meatier and “fun” than other young adult novels cum films. Must try read the book it’s upon before the film unspools.

7. Cosmopolis

Say what you will, Robert Pattinson is the still clandestine talent of the Twilight franchise. Coupled with director David Croneberg, he might finally be able to convince the cynics of that.

MTV’s Movie Smackdown 2012: Vote For Your Must See Flick

Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy comes to an end, the “Twilight” saga reaches its conclusion and “The Avengers” finally assemble… those are just a few of the monumental events hitting the big screen in 2012, easily one of the biggest years for movies in recent memory for those reasons and more. We’ll get to the bottom of that question in MTV’s Movie Smackdown 2012, a new tournament pitting 32 of the most anticipated movies of the coming year against each other, “Hunger Games” style!
Starting on Tuesday (January 3), we’re asking you to vote for the movie you’re most excited to see in 2012 based on our list of 32 titles. The following week, our list will pare down to a sweet 16 based on your votes. Those remaining movies will be pitted against each other in a series of single-elimination battles until only one film is left standing—the film that you’re most excited about in 2012.
Can the growing buzz on “The Hunger Games” outmatch the anticipated “Breaking Dawn” finale? Will a comic book movie flick like “The Dark Knight Rises” or “The Amazing Spider-Man” take the top prize? Which upcoming Snow White movie – “SWATH” or “Mirror Mirror” – is truly the fairest of them all?
We’ll find out what you think when the Smackdown begins. Tune into MTV Movies on January 3 for the first round of voting!
Which movie are you most excited about in 2012? Let us know in the comments section and on Twitter!

Life After Twilight

imagebam.com

Harry Potter has bitten the dust; the Twilight Saga is staggering to a close. While the film industry gets used to the idea that two of its biggest cash cows will no longer be delivering, 2012 marks the moment that a clutch of very rich, very famous actors, all in their late teens and early 20s, will be let loose on the cinematic world, to run their careers as they like.

Three of the most bankable names on the planet are Potter graduates: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. Another three are from Twilight: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. The Potter kids have been locked into their series for longer, and have had to negotiate a very public adolescence.

Radcliffe may be a lantern-jawed 22-year-old leading man, and Watson a 21-year-old fashion maven, but the memory of those schoolkid personas – owlish and goody-two-shoes respectively – will stick around for ever.

In a side-projectish way, some have already taken their baby steps. Radcliffe appeared in an Australian indie, December Boys; Stewart played Joan Jett in a movie about girl-rockers the Runaways; and Watson had a small role in My Week with Marilyn.

But the serious business lies ahead. This year, Radcliffe plays the lead in the ghost story The Woman in Black (released 10 February), a high-profile Hammer film directed by James "Eden Lake" Watkin, with a script by Jane "Kick-Ass" Goldman. Watson, meanwhile, looks to be banking on the putatively hip, John Malkovich-co-produced The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Grint isn't yet in the same upscale bracket, but it means he can take a few risks on edgier stuff, and he's currently signed to a biopic of Eddie "the Eagle" Edwards. The final Twilight instalment Breaking Dawn: Part 2 screens in November. In the meantime, Stewart's big vehicle is Snow White and the Huntsman (released 1 June), an action-movie twist on the traditional tale (not a million miles away from the retooled gothic of Twilight). Lautner – the series' beefcake – is gunning for similar status, even if last September's Abduction was a flop; he's used his Twilight cash to sign up Gus Van Sant, for an as-yet secret project.

Arguably, it's Pattinson who looks to be making the most interesting moves. At 25, he's the oldest, and cut his teeth as Cedric Diggory in the Potter films. In the past he has demonstrated a literary/artistic bent (he played Salvador Dalí in his last pre-Twilight film, Little Ashes), and he's going down that road again next year, with Bel Ami (released 2 March), an adaptation of the Maupassant novel. Later in the year we should be getting Cosmopolis, another literary adaptation (of Don DeLillo's 2003 novel), which has Pattinson as a mega-rich asset manager stuck in a limo for 24 hours. The director is David Cronenberg, so chances are this will be pretty special.

Taylor tells fans to separate him from Jacob

imagebam.com

In a recent interview, Twilight heart-throb Taylor Lautner gave his loyal and loving fans some interesting and seemingly ironic advice. He told them to just forget about Twilight. That's not a misprint. Now that the Twilight Saga has come to an end, he wants people to just forget about the famous vampire films and the part he played in them.

In a recent interview, Taylor Lautner explained that the only way he'll ever be successful as a multifaceted actor is if he and his fans learn to "separate" the Twilight Saga's Jacob from his roles in other films. And not just him. He believes the same holds true for his famous co-stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as well. That's because the roles they played on Twilight are unlike any others they have ever undertaken--before or since. In fact, Lautner believes Twilight is unlike any other movie ever made.

"You kind of just have to realize that Twilight is Twilight and it's unlike anything else," mused Taylor Lautner. "So forget about that for a second and if you can do that then you're fine! Because we do what we love to do and do things we are passionate about and really hope that people enjoy them."

Interestingly, all 3 Twilight stars now have upcoming films. Robert Pattinson has Cosmopolis and Bel Ami. For Kristen Stewart, it's Snow White and the Huntsman. And Taylor Lautner will star in the upcoming Incarceron. So far, it looks like the fans they garnered from their Twilight Saga days will have no trouble separating them from their characters.

Rob is E! Celeb of the Year

Photobucket

EOnline Sixty-four celebs, five weeks of voting, four fiercely contested brackets and a surprising wild card round later, Robert Pattinson comes out on top.The great-haired hunk has won the E! Celeb of the Year honor—for the second year in a row!

Team Jacob and Twilight haters can get to steppin' because the evidence is crystal clear: You guys love R.Pattz. And what's even better? Pattinson's competitor for the final round of 2011's tournament was his "sexy goddess" Kristen Stewart. Again.

Here's how it went down:

More than a month ago, we introduced the 64 big-name contenders—Kate Middleton, Charlie Sheen, Justin Bieber and Britney Spears, to name a few—who all had a lot going on this year. (For the record, the new Duchess of Cambridge came super close to grabbing this title.)

So what made Rob stand out above all the pop stars, royals, Oscar winners and warlocks who dominated 2011?Was it all about the jaw-dropping Breaking Dawn: Part 1, the sparkly vamp's latest blockbuster, which hit theaters last month and is still making bank? Or was it his bold steps to more challenging roles like Cosmopolis? Or maybe it was that mind-of-its-own hair or his? Or was it just the smooch?

Nick Frost Praises Kristen's Dedication in SWATH

One of Snow White’s trusted dwarves, Nick Frost, assured MTV News that Stewart does more than enough to prove herself.

It was our last day on Friday, and she has kind of a big rabble rousing speech, and she’s great. She’s fun on set. She’s a fantastic actress,” said Frost while promoting “The Adventures of Tintin.”

Frost feels that people can discount Stewart unfairly because of her previous work, but there are a few things they don’t keep in mind.
“I think people forget she’s fairly young still, but she’s dedicated and she wants to do a good job,” he said. “Often, I don’t think people take that into consideration. She’s doing ‘Twilight’ and stuff like that, but she’s dedicated.”

It’s the combination of Stewart’s age and the amount of work that “SWATH” demanded that really left an impression on Frost. “How old is she? Twenty-three, twenty-four?” Frost asked.
“I don’t know that many twenty-three or twenty-four year-olds that get picked up at 4 am and work until 10 at night, six days a week. She comes on set smiling and laughing, and she knows her lines.”

SWATH Wrap Party DJ mentions Kristen

Photobucket

Chris Sullivan/Redbull.com That night I was called upon to DJ for the wrap party for the film Snow White And The Huntsman – with its Warhol Factory theme, it was right up my street and an absolutely storming do.

After my first set I bumped into an old friend, Rupert Sanders who directed the film that twists the old Brothers Grimm fairy tale. It stars Kristen ‘Twilight’ Stewart in the title role with Charlize Theron as Queen Ravena.
He then introduced me to Stewart, who, dressed like a young indie kid, I’d completely failed to recognize in the low lights of the club!

But I reckon I redeemed myself: l was the last on the decks and, after mixing Mock and Tuff into Todd Terje’s re-edit of the classic Horse With No Name by America,
I saw Kirsten dancing with her hands in the air. Job done says I.

5. Bella and Edward Finally Do It

Summit After years of nearly blinding “Twilight” fanaticism, the moment fans have been waiting for finally arrived this year: Edward and Bella actually doing it. Fittingly, all that pent-up lust — which is let loose during their honeymoon in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ — is released in a violent explosion of passion that results in shredded pillows, a broken headboard and the conception of a mommy-eating monster vampire baby. All the debates over Team Edward vs. Team Jacob have been resolved, and by all accounts, the ultimate winners in the Bella sweepstakes are the fans themselves. It’s about time.
