‘Bel Ami,’ ‘Cosmopolis,’ More: MTV Movie Brawl Wild Card Winners Revealed

Hunger Games” and “Twilight” fans, watch your backs: some new competitors have just entered the ring!

The MTV Movie Brawl 2012′s Wild Card round is closed, and five new movies have now been admitted into the tournament for your voting pleasure. Just like the other films, you have until Sunday to vote these new movies into the March Madness-style bracket tournament that’s launching on Monday (January 9). Can you rally enough support behind these newcomers to ensure their spots in the Sweet 16? Let’s find out!
Your new competitors are…

“Bel Ami”
Ask and ye shall receive! Robert Pattinson fans came out in full force to support this long delayed indie starring the “Twilight” hunk as journalist Georges Duroy. The film chronicles his rise to power, not to mention his encounters with sexy co-stars Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas. The movie hits theaters on March 2, 2012.

“Cosmopolis”
If “Bel Ami” was going to crack into the Wild Card round, it should come as no surprise that this other Pattinson flick squeaked in as well. This time, the film follows big-time money-maker Eric Packer (Pattinson) and his very bad (hair) day through the streets of Manhattan. The David Cronenberg movie is set to arrive later in 2012.

“Paranormal Activity 4″
It wouldn’t be Halloween at the box office without a “Paranormal Activity” movie, and the Paramount horror franchise isn’t disappointing in that regard. Little is known beyond the film’s October 19 release date (giving us enough time to supply our wish list of directors), but as is always the case with this series, it’s the endless surprises that leave us at the edge of our seats.

“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”
What do you get when you throw teen faves Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Nina Dobrev and more into the same movie together? You get “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” the novel adaptation that’s set to hit theaters later in 2012. Lerman already won our MTV New Class President poll by a landslide in 2011—can he bring the same momentum to this latest contest?

“Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace 3D”
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away—or, more accurately, back in 1999 and right here on Earth—George Lucas brought “Star Wars” fans their first new film in the franchise since 1983′s “Return of the Jedi.” Now, “Phantom Menace” is coming back to theaters—this time in glorious 3D—on February 10, and we already feel the anticipation building up. But is the force strong enough in this rerelease to overcome 36 completely new releases for a spot in the brawl for it all?
