Most biopics are known to be hero-driven. The inspiring tales of men who made a difference and changed the world. But what about those women who were equally feisty? Those women who dared to tread beyond the boundaries and refused to be tied down by the chains of societal norms? With movies like The Iron Lady and My Week With Marilyn making a splash in Hollywood this year, we list out a few movies where women reign supreme, giving the men a run for their money! ....


The runaways The movie is a no-holds-barred account of an all girl rock band that emerged in the mid 1970's. Based on the book Neon Angel: The Cherie Currie Story by Cherie Currie, The Runaways showed Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart and Michael Shannon in a brand new avatar. The movie opens in LA, introducing us to Joan Jett and Cherie Currie and the many problems in their lives. In comes Michael Shannon as Kim Fowley, who takes them to band camp and gears them up for the life of a rockstar. The movie begins to take an interesting turn when they begin to experiment with drugs, their sexuality and more.
