"Now it’s your turn to not break me." - Edward Cullen (Ch. 20, p. 395)
When she awakens as a newborn vampire, "Bella" has more strength than
anyone in the room. After she gives him a squeeze and he admits that
she's hurting him a bit, he makes this little joke. The tables have
turned!
"You nicknamed my daughter after the Loch Ness Monster?" - Bella Cullen (Ch. 22, p. 451)
"Bella" chose the name "Renesmee," but while she was muscling through
the torment of transformation, "Jacob" not only imprinted on her
daughter, but he also gave her a very odd nickname. Mama Cullen is
none-too-pleased here. Needless to say, things get entertaining.
"So it’s still standing? I would’ve thought you two had knocked it to rubble by now. What were you doing last night? Discussing the national debt?" - Emmett Cullen (Ch. 25, p. 490)
"Emmett" takes several opportunities to poke fun at "Bella" and
"Edward" for being newlyweds. Always a good source of humor on this
subject, he refers to the fact that their little cottage is still in one
piece, even though they're both strong and desirable vampires by now.
"Bella, things are different with us now, but you’ll always be my best friend, and I’ll always love you. But I’ll love you the right way now. There’s finally a balance. We both have people we can’t live without." - Jacob Black (Ch. 25, p. 498)
In this touching little moment, "Jacob" lays his new feelings on the
line and explains his new part in the "Cullen" family puzzle to "Bella."
"You gonna make me a grandpa so young?" - Charlie Swan (Ch. 25, p. 508)
"Charlie" finally gets to see his daughter after she's been hidden
from him for far too long. When he arrives, he discovers that she's
alive(-ish) and well and has added a new little one to the family.
"You. Me. Arm-wrestling. Dining room table. Now." - Bella Cullen (Ch. 26, p. 518)
Oh, the arm-wrestling scene! Kellan Lutz can't wait for it, and after that storyboard glimpse of it, we know for sure it'll make the cut. I just hope "Bella" is the one to initiate in this right-here-right-now style.
"You’re all fools to think you can defy the Volturi." - Amun (Ch. 34, p. 656)
Now that Stephenie Meyer's The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide is out, we can know some more of the significance to the witness vampires' quotes throughout Breaking Dawn.
For instance, in this one, "Amun" from the Egyptian Coven says that our
heroes are "fools" to think they can show-down with the Volturi and get
away with it. In the Guide, we learned of "Amun's" intense history with the Volturi. It makes the words that much much interesting, yes?
"I love you, too, Momma. We’ll always be together." - Renesmee Cullen (Ch. 35, p. 675)
She doesn't say much, but when "Renesmee" utters this line in the
middle of crisis time, it's enough to make you melt right along with
"Bella."
"Goodbye, Jacob, my brother… my son." - Edward Cullen (Ch. 37, p. 723)
So it goes with this line from "Edward," who acknowledges that the
end of everything could be upon them. "Jacob" is part of his life - his
family even - in the end, despite what they've been through.
"Aro, would you ask Jane to stop attacking my wife?" - Edward Cullen (Ch. 38, p. 732)
When "Bella" is able to prevent the mind-attacks of even the
strongest members of the Volturi guard, "Aro" is forced to reconsider
his plans for the day. It seals the deal on the victory when "Edward"
slips in this little nugget. "Jane's" penchant for pain will have to
play out elsewhere.
