Despite
a slate of films that has been mostly disappointing from a critical
point of view, 2012 has thus far produced box-office numbers that have
the movie industry on pace for a record-setting year. Films like "Safe
House" and "The Vow" have delivered surprisingly strong numbers,
bringing in enough to offset the epic stink bomb that was "John Carter."
The next two months promise some good yarns, too.

Snow White and The Huntsman
We had a hard time believing the world needed another version of this story--and then we saw the trailer for director Rupert Sander's take and we were sold. Charlize Theron's late-career resurgence continues with her turn as the evil queen, Chris Hemsworth kept his Thor muscles for the role of the man who can't bring himself to kill the beautiful young Snow, played by Kristen Stewart, who looks like she's eager to strap on some armor, storm the castle and put Bella behind her.
