To wrap up the Twilight-related events of 2012 (and to put a pin in the Saga ... unless that spin-off does end up happening after all), here is one of a series of posts looking back at the major events of the year for the main parties involved continuing with Kristen Stewart herself.
Needless to say, this year proved to hold a lot of highs and lows for her.
Throughout the spring and summer, Stewart rode on a tide of vast successes thanks to her work on On The Road and Snow White And The Huntsman. OTR brought her a first showing at the Cannes Film Festival, and SWATH proved her potential box office muscle outside of the Twilight Saga and opened the door for a sequel. Not to mention, her perfume ads for Balenciaga finally came down.
The unfortunate events of late July, however, put Stewart's reputation in something of a tailspin. To the everlasting credit of the media, the subject really only came up in her interviews on one occasion - during her The Today Show appearance in support of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 - although Robert Pattinson himself had to swat away the issue several times.
Stewart first reemerged at the Toronto International Film Festival for OTR before hitting Paris Fashion Week in support of Balenciaga. There was some initial buzz about Stewart being potentially canned from the SWATH sequel, which caused something of a public uproar and drew support for her from the likes of Jodie Foster, and then her involvement with Cali fell through as well.
After a little time passed, however, the career moves began to pick back up. Stewart signed onto a comedy flick called Focus and confirmed her plans to return for SWATH 2. She also said that she and Pattinson still intend to work together again one day if the right project arises.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 proved to be the highest-grossing installment yet, and Stewart's currently enjoying some awards season buzz for OTR, so all's well that ends well.
