With some movie theaters already selling movie tickets for Eclipse, it's probably a tough decision for some fans on whether to check out the film at a regular theater or IMAX.
The third installment of the Saga has been formatted specifically for "The IMAX Experience". That's an entirely different viewing format than having it show at an IMAX theater says Kim Palacios, reporter for hollywoodnews.com.
[For a truly "IMAX Experience,"] a special lens is used with the projector to allow for a standard movie picture to be shown on the larger screen. So, if you saw “Twilight” or “New Moon” in an IMAX theater, it was simply blown up to show a larger version of the original. Films that are truly formatted for The IMAX Experience utilize special technology that allows the movie to be played on all planes of a semi-globular screen. So this year’s much-awaited release of “Eclipse” will be an unprecedented event.
Moviefone.com and Fandango.com are two places you should be checking early and often for Eclipse tickets. With Moviefone, you'll get a listing of all available showings at a theater nearest you, even as far as 3,000 miles away. With Fandango, you can sign up for their "fan alert" emails to notify you of when tickets become available in your area.
