Twilight fans not “bothered” by Jimmy Fallon rerun of Robert Pattinson appearance
All day yesterday, social media was atwitter with reminders about the rerun of Robert Pattinson on The Jimmy Fallon Show. The original episode aired on 3/1, days before the theater release of “Remember Me”, but this was no typical appearance.
So what’s with all the hype? Fallon has been parodying Rpattz for months, producing three SNL-esque sketches of a faux show called “Bothered with Robert Pattinson”. In these sketches, Fallon speaks to viewers from a tree, wears pale makeup, a chaotic bronze-colored wig, and an outfit similar to one worn by Edward in Twilight. Yet, instead of appearing as Edward the vampire, he speaks as Robert Pattinson in an English accent that embellishes greatly upon the Brit’s. Add in cursing, a blow-up doll in the likeness of Bella, and a misanthropic attitude, and fans find the portrayal of Pattinson hilarious.
The 3/1 episode was the favorite of all three—it was the date that Robert himself appeared in the sketch. Joining Fallon in the tree, Pattinson interrupts the comedian mid-spiel, shouting “Hey! I don’t talk like that!”
“Seeing that made me realize why I’m not a comedian”, said Pattinson during his subsequent interview with Fallon. Indeed, during the sketch, he had trouble staying in comedic character. All that said, his lack of composure didn’t take away from the performance—it only served to make it funnier. Fans can only hope this will give Rob the motivation to finally agree to host Saturday Night Live.
