The horror remake A Nightmare on Elm Street, featuring a cast of young actors that includes Twilight’s Kellan Lutz, opened to an estimated $32 million this weekend, easily making it the #1 movie in the country.
It didn’t make quite as much as the $40 million that Friday the 13th made last year, but then again, that movie actually opened on a Friday the 13th.
How to Train Your Dragon, meanwhile, has been around for six weeks but is still the #2 movie with more than $10 million.
The weekend’s second new release, the comedy Furry Vengeance, was a disappointment and opened at #5 with $6 million. It starred Brendan Fraser and also featured Matt Prokop (HSM 3) and Skyler Samuels (Wizards of Waverly Place).
