‘Eclipse’ shines with $92.8 mil

Summit Entertainment’s “Eclipse” grossed an estimated $24.2 million on Thursday from 4,416 theaters for a domestic cume of $92.8 million.

Today. the film will play in a total of 4,468, the largest number ever.

Pic dropped a steep 65% from its massive opening day gross of $68.6 million. Wednesday’s haul included north of $30 million in midnight runs, a record.

According to preliminary estimates, Paramount’s “The Last Airbender,” the 3D pic from M. Night Shyamalan, grossed a handy 16.3 million as it opened Thursday at the domestic B.O.
