'Twilight' star Guri Weinberg challenges the International Olympic Committee

Guri Weinberg (who portrays Stefan of the Romanian Coven in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2) is taking a stand with regard to this year's Summer Olympics.

For those not familiar with Weinberg's story, his father Moshe Weinberg was an Israeli Summer Olympics coach (of the nation's wrestling team) who was - alongside other members of Irael's Olympic team - kidnapped, tortured, and eventually murdered by Palestinian terrorists known as Black September. The incident is known as the Munich Massacre of 1972, since that year's Olympics took place in Munich, Germany. Guri Weinberg, who was young when it happened, eventually portrayed his own father in the 2005 Steven Spielberg film about the story, Munich.

Today, Weinberg wrote an aggressive op-ed for Fox News about the International Olympic Committee's recent decision not to honor the fallen Olympians on the fortieth anniversary of the tragic event, despite a petition for a moment of silence during the opening ceremonies. In the piece, Guri Weinberg declares that the IOC refused the petition due to unscrupulous reasons. He declared, "The threat of the IOC coming after me does not scare me anymore. When you have no more dignity, you have nothing to lose. So, members of the IOC -- my name is Guri Weinberg and I am the son of Moshe Weinberg, the wrestling coach murdered at the 1972 Olympics. Weinberg reported on his Twitter page that today he "will be with the Consulate General of Israel as he holds a press conference" on the issue. This is definitely a delicate situation, so bravo to Guri Weinberg for his bravery.
