wsj Sitting FROW at fashion week has become a rite of passage for celebrities of every ilk. Saturday was actress Anna Kendrick’s first time at London Fashion Week.
Though her characters in “Up in the Air” and “Pitch Perfect” could never be described as fashion-forward (Aca-awkward), Ms. Kendrick was looking red-carpet ready at the Julien Macdonald show at the gilded Goldsmiths’ Hall.
“I’m just looking forward to the detail and the work Julien puts into his clothes,” she said before the show got underway. “I mean, just this [dress] alone, I can’t stop touching it. This was kind of a last-minute replacement. They sent it over and it fit like a glove. And, you know, I can’t stop playing with the beading on it because it’s just so elaborate and stunning — it’s beautiful. And this space is so incredible, you know it’s going to be something really opulent.”
And that’s exactly what it was. Designer Julien Macdonald, currently starring in “Strictly Come Dancing,” sent down the runway a collection of glamorous beaded gowns that would be at home on any ballroom floor. Just be careful when you cha-cha-cha; there were a few near misses as the models’ slinky high-heels got caught up in their dresses.
