The idea that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn would be an R-rated film has been circulating for a while, mostly driven by fans who want to see some of the steamier moments from the “Isle Esme” segment.
However, the general consensus has been an understanding that the Twilight series has a PG-13 demographic and that elevating the MPAA rating for this section of the franchise would be a very big mistake.
Now, Summit Entertainment’s Richie Fay has confirmed to MTV that there is no intention from the studio’s end for the fourth and fifth legs of the Twilight Saga film franchise to be R-rated.
“I don’t see it ever becoming an R-rated movie,” Richie Fay (distribution chief for Summit) stated. “I can’t say for a fact, but I just don’t see us getting into an R-rated area with any of the ‘Twilight’ titles.”
While this isn’t an official confirmation of the sought for rating, it does indicate that the status quo is the way the filmmakers will go with Breaking Dawn. Anyone surprised?
