“BREAKING DAWN: PART 1″ — BIGGEST MOVIE RELEASE OF 2011
It came down to the two blockbuster sequels of the year, but in the end the 2011 Sugar Award for biggest movie release went to Breaking Dawn Part 1! In the year leading up to its release, Twilight fans soaked up anything about the film that hit the web: posters, teasers, first looks at Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) wedding dress. Important moments from the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga were translated to the screen in Part 1: Bella and Edward’s (Robert Pattinson) romantic wedding, their sexy honeymoon, and the horrifying birth of their child. The ending also set up the final showdown we’ll see in Breaking Dawn Part 2 next November. Worldwide, the film has grossed more than $647 million. In our Sugar Awards it beat out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, Bridesmaids, Water For Elephants, The Hangover Part II and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Seems like nothing gets in the way of Twilight and its awards — the latest instalment in the saga, Breaking Dawn: Part 1, has taken out the Biggest Beauty Influencer of the Year category in our 2011 Sugar Awards. Despite the 1920s appearing heavily on the catwalk in the Spring 2011 shows, in beauty advertisments, on the red carpet and, of course, on the big and small screens (think Underbelly: Razor and The Great Gatsby) it wasn’t considered a big enough influencer in the eyes of our readers, who voted that Kristen Stewart’s wedding makeup look was the look to be sporting this year.
