Pattinson makes memories in ‘Remember Me’

Movie goers were captivated by the dramatic plot and constant turn of events in the film “Remember Me,” which opened March 12.

“Remember Me,” is a romantic drama written by Will Fetters and directed by Allen Coulter.

Familiar faces in the film include heartthrob Robert Pattinson who plays Tyler, a misunderstood young adult who faced the terrible ordeal of having his older brother commit suicide.

Pattinson is best known for his role as Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” films.

His acting in the film does not compare to the much more intense and convincing role he
has in “Remember Me.”

Pattinson has demonstrated his growth as an actor in this production.

Pierce Brosnan plays Tyler’s father who gets a divorce from his on-screen wife, Lena Olin, after a family tragedy.

Tyler’s father, drastically affected by the tragedy, doesn’t spend nearly enough time with his family and his children resent him for it.

Typically Brosnan is not seen portraying roles in films where he is a disconnected
executive, rather he is known for his charismatic acting in films like “007.”

However, Brosnan’s performance was very believable and it was refreshing to see him
take on a role that viewers do not usually see him in.

Caroline Hawkins, played by Ruby Jerins, is Tyler’s adorable younger sister and closest
friend.

Then there is the charming and free-spirited Ally, played by Emilie de Ravin, who unexpectedly wins the heart of Tyler and shares the bond of having experienced a family tragedy.

Throughout the film it seems as though there is one unfortunate event after another that occurs.

If viewers are intent on seeing what is known as the average love story, they will be surprised by the film’s many twists and it will definitely leave some viewers in tears.

Ally is the first character to experience a
shockingly painful experience as a young girl.

Although the painstaking experience Ally endures is rough to say the least, she allows the misfortune to help her to become the woman that she turns out to be, one who appreciates life and its many possibilities.

When Tyler and his family suffer the loss of a brother and son, they are truly devastated.

It is clearly evident to see the toll that it takes on each member of the family in a different way.

Tyler and Ally, both students at NYU, fall in love circumstantially.

However, the unforeseen events that initially drew them together threaten to tear them apart when secrets come to the
surface and emotions run high.

Just when Tyler’s relationship with Ally is endangered, he begins to realize what his priorities in life are, and he learns to appreciate all of the things he should be thankful for, not taking anything for granted.

Possibly, the most tragic scene of the film is the ending, which left many viewers in
shock.

I won’t spoil the ending for those who have yet to see the film, what I will say however,
is that the film is set in the summer of 2001.

Although “Remember Me” definitely has more
solemn moments than uplifting ones, the film moves audiences with its passion and full dose of drama, leaving viewers feeling a sense of empathy with the characters as they share their hardships and triumphs.

“Remember Me,” is truly inspirational as it serves as a reminder to live life to the fullest, appreciate the people who are important to you, and to set priorities in life.
