‘Twilight’ series news wrap

A lot has happened in the past day or so of Twilight related news, so to be concise, here’s a tidy little news wrap.

For starters, Melissa Rosenberg (screenwriter for Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) had an interview with one source, where she talked about her experience writing the Twilight series films.

“As a writer . . . I dread director’s cuts,” she says. “What’s true is as a writer, you’ve seen the whole movie in your head. You’ve seen every detail, and the movie that’s in your head costs a million dollars . . . inevitably, what shows up on film is a bit of a disappointment.” “When I went to see New Moon . . . I was smiling.”

You can listen to the rest here.

Another interesting interview that came up was that of Robert Pattinson and Pierce Brosnan in MySpace’s Artist on Artist series for Remember Me. In the interview, Brosnan compliments Pattinson on a job well done and the two note that Pattinson’s involvement with the project as an executive producer has “become one of the biggest talking points” about the film.

The second portion of the interview that Pattinson did with filmmakers Allen Coulter, Nick Osbourne, and Will Fetters was also just released, and you can check that out here.

Note also that the original soundtrack and score lists from the picture were announced. Finally, note that Pattinson will be appearing on CBS’s The Early Show on March 9th, according to one source.

Chris Weitz, director of New Moon, did another interesting DVD-related interview with IESB recently, and he revealed the reason why Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner are not featured on the DVD’s commentary track.

“It was actually happenstance. These things are scheduled during the whole press bonanza that you’re doing and, on that particular day, everyone was in motion between one screening and the next, and I happened to be the only piece of the puzzle, as well as Peter Lambert, who was in London, that was available,” he said. You can read the rest of that interview here.

MTV caught up with Weitz about the DVD as well, and he revealed two interesting nuggets of information. For starters, he stated that reducing the speaking scenes involving Rachelle Lefevre in the film was not related to the fact that she was replaced in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Also, he stated that the reason Robert Pattinson’s eyes were not black (during the reunion scene in the piazza, for instance) in some scenes is that he “dropped the ball.” You can read the rest here.

More information on Chris Weitz’s The Gardener also came about this week, and it was revealed that “Weitz starts shooting April in East Los Angeles. He has cast Demian Bichir—best known for Weeds and playing Castro in Che—for the title character, a man who drives from East L.A. to manicure the lawns of the upscale, while trying to keep his son away from gangs and immigration agents. Newcomer Jose Julian will play the teen.” The rest is available here.

f.y.e., who recently unveiled their product availability for the New Moon DVD line, issued details for a $200 giftcard contest, and if you’re interested in entering, the details are available here.

Finally with regard to New Moon, the film and its characters and castmembers won quite a few iVillage Entertainment Awards, including “Man You’d Trade Your Husband For” (for “Edward Cullen”), “Hottest ‘New Moon’ Hunk” (for Robert Pattinson), and “Saddest Onscreen Split” (for “Edward” and “Bella”). Twilight stars also lit up the “25 Most Crushable Stars Under 25″ list at Crushable.
