As if the upcoming DVD release of Twilight Saga: New Moon weren’t enough, add to that the just leaked sneak peek trailer for this summer’s theatrical debut of Twilight Saga: Eclipse. To celebrate the latest entries into the franchise, Nashville’s own Borders bookstore (located at 2501 West End Avenue) will host a Midnight Release Party coupled with a very clever Borders New Moon Movie Awards ceremony.
Last year’s Twilight sequel, New Moon introduced movie-goers to the year’s most popular love triangle of Bella/Jacob/Edward. In New Moon, angst-ridden teen mortal, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) was seemingly abandoned by vampire hunk, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and offered solace in the shape-shifting, often shirtless form of Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). While that seemed to be the sole purpose of the film–to set up the third installment’s main plot device–Twi-hards are just as eager for the third installment.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is set to debut in theatres on June 30, 2010, but fans have been given an early spring gift with the just released teaser trailer.
Yes, fans will get yet another chance to see Bella agonize over choosing Jacob vs. Edward. Twilight junkies will also have an opportunity to catch up on the rest of Edward’s vampire family, the Cullens, once again played by: Peter Fascinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Green, Kellan Lutz; and let’s not forget their adopted vampires, Rosalie and Jasper Hale (Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone). That said, the real fun of the third entry into the Twilight franchise comes in the return of Victoria.
The new Eclipse trailer briefly features Twilight franchise newcomer, Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria, a vicious vampire hungry for revenge after the death of her beloved ex, James. While Victoria was primarily a secondary character in the two previous films, she is a pivotal character in the third installment. Actress Rachelle Lefevre played Victoria in Twilight and New Moon, but had to drop out of Eclipse due to scheduling conflicts.
Coming on board for the first time in the series are Victoria’s renegade vampires: Riley (Xavier Samuel), Maria (Catalina Sandino Moreno), Lucy (Kristen Prout) and Bree (Jodelle Ferland)
The sneak peek at Eclipse also celebrates the return of Jane (Dakota Fanning) a member of the Volturi vampire coven. Other Volturi returning for Eclipse are: Alec (Cameron Bright), Demetri (Charlie Bewley) and Felix (Daniel Cudmore).
With three more months until the release of Eclipse, look for anticipation to build to a blood-curdling boil, just as it did with Twilight and New Moon, Speaking of New Moon, mark your calendars for a late night shopping trip on March 19/March 20. As the clock strikes 12:01am on March 20, the Twilight sequel hits shelves with a special 2-disc DVD and special edition Blu-Ray. The DVD will retail for $32.99 with the Blu-Ray selling for $34.99.
